Well, sorry about the wait. Here, finally are the results of CWC35
All the clues for orchestra have comments. Please read them with a grain
of salt, and remember that it's just my opinion. I've tried to be
objective though. Some of the clues for symphony have comments. Sorry, but
I don't have time to do it properly. It's probably better that way anyway.
Anyway, the winner for the ORCHESTRA clue was Mike Holly with:

The winner for SYMPHONY was tied. I couldn't choose between Greg

The first being quite evocative, while the second very clever indeed,
and not too hard for people who know nothing.

A good clue, it reads well. It is fairly straightforward to solve, which
is good for some people and bad for others, by Amitai Halevi

2) Sounds of a small bird of prey, perhaps (9)
Sounds = homonym indicator and more
bird of prey = kestral
small = get rid of the "l" in kestral
perhaps = or
i.e. or kestra(l)

I like this attempt at quite a clever clue, only it doesn't quite work
for me. I don't really like the 'small' to get rid of the 'l', or the
'perhaps' at the end to signify an 'or' at the beginning, by Mike Ellis.

I don't like indirect anagrams at all, I'm afraid.
The definition is a bit dodgy as well.

(ORCHESTRA means "good seats" in the sense of "the seats nearest
the front of a theater". I like the fact that solvers may be
fooled into looking for an anagram of the 9 letter word "Otherwise".)

Well, I'm not really keen on 'good seats' as a definition of orchestra ...
(They may be right up the front, but they're also sunk several metres - you
can't see much from down there! ;)) The clue reads well, and is otherwise

Her costar = anagram of ORCHESTRA
stumbled = anagram indicator
in front of the stage = defn (the term orchestra is used
for the place that the orchestra sits which is generally
in front of the stage for operas/musicals.)

I quite like this clue. It reads well - I like the 'stumbled' for
the anagram indicator, and I could conceivably get 'orchestra' as
a definition for 'in front of the stage'. (That is my yardstick.
Would I, as a solver, be able to see the definition from that? In this

This clue reads quite nicely, and works quite well. It would be
fairly easy to solve I expect, but even though the word 'initially'
is used, it reads so well that it is not _that_ obvious.
