Hi Paul!
Others may not feel this is the right group, but I for one love this kind
of puzzle! Would you consider posting some of the ones you've already
solved (without answers)? I've got some too you may enjoy.
Yours are stumpers, all right, and here's another (I haven't figured it
out):
5 D in a ZC
Having read Ilan Mayer's response, I agree with his answers for "3 C in a
F" and "24 C of PG", but I have my doubts about his response for "10 GBH on
the W". Is that the British equivalent to "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"?
Or is it a current hit song I've never heard? Or is it in the category of
"64 Spots on a Cat"--sure, the words fit, but they don't make any sense.
(BTW, it's 64 Squares on a Checkerboard.)

For those who enjoy this type of puzzle, there is a fairly large
collection at

http://einstein.et.tudelft.nl/~arlet/puzzles/lang_eq.html

Each solution must be looked up separately.

Do Canadians write about "carats" of gold? Down here, gold
purity is measured in karats, and carats are for measuring the
weight of precious stones.

In article <33c6e99d...@newsreader.digex.net>,

Checking the Oxford dictionary shows that the spelling "carat" is used
for both gold and precious stones; the spelling "karat" is a variant
(chiefly U.S.) used for gold only. This puzzle originates from Britain,
and hence the spelling "carat".

Two Lovely Black Eyes (one of my favourite music hall songs)
Three Coins in a Fountain (theme song from musical of the same name)

If, as the 3 answers you now have suggests, these are all song titles than
I'm stuck for 5 & 24. If not, 24 could be ..

24 carats of pure gold
