Micro squiggly red worms come out of dirt in Pond

Hello all! We just noticed these tube worm like creatures (without the
tubes) coming out of the soil in our pond soil (below water). They are
blood red, very very fine, hair-like, and wave frantically around (I suppose
catching micro food). When disturbed, they suck back below ground.

I have also found them in the foam in my biofilter. I took some samples to
the local pet store, who is a ponder as well, and he said not to worry about
them.

Sounds like blood worms. Feed them to your fish, they will love you for it.
