I have a Yashica Electro 35 that uses a 5.6 volt battery.
The original battery was a Mercury battery. I have been
told that these Mercury batteries are illegal now in the
US. The closest replacement I can find is a Duracell 6
volt. But after I installed the 6 volt battery, the light
meter no longer functioned properly.

Does anyone know where I can get a 5.6 volt replacement
battery? Has any one had similar problems?

-Don

Is the battery alittle shorter than an AA and slightly fatter?
If it is, I know that Eveready Engergizer makes a battery called
a TR164 or TR167. It's either an alkaline, lithium or a silver
oxide battery. I know for sure that alot of old Yashica cameras
require this battery. You should be able to find it at a larger
downtown Photographic store.
