Iąve got a problem with my ŚPentax ME Superą. This is an old camera (Iąve
had it around 20 years) and up till now itąs never given me any problems.

Recently however Iąve noticed that the light-meter keeps jumping around.
Iąll have the camera on auto and be photographing something at 1/60 sec or
1/125 sec then itąll suddenly jump up to 1/500 sec. The same happened in
reverse when I was doing some close-up work using extension tubes. The
light meter was giving me a reading of 1/125 sec or 1/250 sec (which I
thought was too high at the time) then after half a film it dropped down to
around 1/8 or 1/15 (which proved later to be the correct exposure time).

The battery has been changed fairly recently so I donąt think itąs a power
problem.

Do light-meters wear out? I lost my Pentax manual years ago so I couldnąt
tell you what sort of meter it is? Could this problem be solved with a
repair-job, or is a question of getting a new camera.

Many thanks

Steve

This is quite likely due to problems with the speed set or
exposure compensation dial. If moving one or the other of
these back and forth a few times improves things, then it
is probably just dirty.

This is probably due to dirt in the AV resister ass'y that sends f-stop info to the meter pcb.

Indicates that a cleaning and a calibration is in order for that camera now.  This is a $98 job.

see  Import Camera Service   for more info.

Thanks Jack

In all of mine, the mode control switch (lock, auto, m, 125, etc) also gets
dirty and holding down the white button while rapidly rotating the switch back
and forth cleans it up.

In article <871zer8...@kristal.wpmills.com>, Pa...@Mills-USA.com says...
