My 17 year old daughter is a serious amateur photographer. We're
currently in the college "search and destroy" season. She's unlikely to
make photography a career, although the possibility exists. She's more
likely to major in English, History, or Art History, with career
objectives entirely unknown.
We're looking for colleges in the northeast that are strong in liberal
arts, but also have photography programs. We live near Philadelphia,
and we're concentrating the search between D.C. and Boston, and west to
Pittsburgh, and lower-central New York. Her favorites so far are NYU
and Univ. of Pittsburgh, but we really don't know what the photo
programs are like at those places, and we don't know where else we
should be looking.
Other colleges on her list, pretty much without knowing much about their
photo programs (if any), are George Washington University, American
Univ., Barnard, Boston University, Connecticut College, Skidmore,
Vassar, and one or two more. R.I.T. is sort-of on the list, but
Rochester is a bit too far, she's not an engineering type, and she's
been there in the winter ...
Any pointers?
Thanks,
Gary
