Question: Skylight (1A) or UV???

Hi,

For years I've been wondering... which is the better filter to leave on
the lens all the time, Skylight(1A) or UV?? My pictures are 75% outdoor
and 25% indoor (with flash). Is there any disadvantages of using
multi-coated filters?... e.g. are they prone to scratces?, can the coating
come off easily?? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
