All:

Beware of purchasing from MP Super Store - aka: Marine Park, in Brooklyn,
NY. Here's my recent history with them:

1 - ordered a Coolpix 995 with WA lens;
2 - it came in with bad pixels in the center of the frame. Also, the box had
obviously been opened, so perhaps this was a return from some other
customer?
3 - the salesperson, "Scott", also added a "lens cleaning kit" and charged
$19.95 - something I never ordered;
4 - their shipping & "handling" charge for overnight between Brooklyn & NJ
was $57.07 !! for a 5 lb package - I've overnighted 60lb computers across
the country for less than that;
5 - the WA lens came in without an adapter for the Coolpix - it's on "back
order", something "Scott" neglected to mention.

So, I setup a return of the bad-pixel camera and (foolishly) ordered another
Coolpix from them. I set it up for UPS ground/insured. That would cost me
about $7 to make such a shipment to them. They charged me $42.05 for
shipping! And though it was promised, the WA lens adapter was not shipped.

I called "Scott" and he said, "I only put in what the computer told me to
put in as a shipping charge. You have to talk to 'Customer Service' to
change it." In otherwords, "I was just following orders."

I called "Customer Service" and was told by "Corinna" that I would have to
talk to my salesperson (Scott). When I said I'd already done that and he
referred me to "Customer Service", she said I could talk to a "manager."

I spoke to a "manager", "David Waters". He flatly told me that this is what
they charge for shipping and "handling" and his further comments boiled down
to: if I didn't like it, too bad. So, I got a return authorization from him.

Bottom Line: Marine Park's price for the Coolpix 995 seemed like a good
deal, but the slippery, slimy way they add items not ordered and jack up the
shipping as if you had ordered a helicopter to deliver the camera to you is
patently dishonest and expensive.

My advice: steer clear of "MP Superstore" aka: marine Park.

Oh, if you want a laugh, listen to their recording while you're on hold. It
speaks about the "friendly, easy shopping experience."

I purchased a Compaq 3670 Pocket PC from them and the transaction went as
smooth as silk. Got the merchandise I asked for, in good time and in good
condition. I would do business with them again.

But, I understand the problem with "customer service" that you experienced.
Many companies forget what the term means and can get down right nasty.
This has happened to the "service industry" as a whole. It is so refreshing
to actually when you find a company that services its customer as we expect.

Consider yourself lucky.

There are lots of places on the web to get opinions about prospective
dealers. One of the oldest for photo items is here:

Look under Community/Member recommendations, and you'll learn more than you
ever wanted to know about MP Superstore, aka Marine Park, and all the
others, be they good, bad or ugly.

I've adopted a policy of not dealing at all with any company within 30
miles of New York City, except B&H Photo. The rest of them are
scheisters in my opinion. I saw a report on 20/20 a while back and
they were reporting on all the camera crook shops in NYC. I recently
saw where a couple of those shops were selling the Oly E10 for
$1150.00. Things that make you go "hmmm". If it looks to good to be
true, it probably is.

Adorama is reputable as well. That's about it for the dealers selling new
items,

I've had good experiences with both B and H, and Adorama.
