How does one illuminate an object with red/blue colors
for macro photography ? Do they sell color filters that
go on lamps ? If so what are they called ?

Thanks
Anand

One of the easier ways is to use two flashes (TTL is fine), each with
a different color gel on the head. If you use aperture priority, your
suject should be the colors you want, but the background will remain
unaffected.

gels

you can get them at theatrical supply or professional photo shops. Roscoe
and Lee are two brands, its like 4 or 5 bucks per poster sized sheet. You
can buy sample sets of all their colors and reflector fabrics which just
happen to be the perfect size to place over the average shoe flash.
