Identify pl filter

I am new to the filter and lens. Hope I can get good advices here.
I went to ebay and got a set of used filters for my digital camera. There
is one Hoya PL lens. I doubt it is linear pl, but not sure. Does that
matter for digital camera if it is not cir-pl? Also, how do I tell it is
standard or double coated lens without the retail package?

Filter was made in Japan.
