Anyone here ever use the Soligor spot meter? They sell for less
than half
the price of a Pentax spot meter, which makes me suspisious.
However, I have been looking for a good used spot meter for a year
now, and the very few that do pop up on the net for sale are usually
snapped up long before I arrive.
Any suggestions? Thanks
joe

Yes - I bought one about 9 yrs ago and it has worked well in general.
One thing about mine is that the calibration went about a year ago and
when I opened it up, I discovered that there are about 4-5
potentiometers to adjust - I would love to find out what they all do
before I try recalibrating it (a circuit diagram would help).

I guess that the moral is that when it worked, mine worked well
(certainly worth the $100 I spent on it) but that it doesn't look easy
to adjust so CHECK THE ACCURACY before you buy a used one.

Joseph,
I've used one for years, I have a Minolta Spotmeter F as well and while the
reading are slightly different, the Soligor is just as reproducible and in
many ways easier to use.

I had one for many years. It works fine. The rotary scale makes
using it for zone system nice. I finally sold mine + flash meter +
luna pro for a new Minolta spot. The digital spot does flash which
I wanted. Otherwise I would have been happy with the Soligor which
i got used for $60.

I still use one - it's probably 15+ years old. The only gripe I have is
that it is hard to read the scale with a dark subject behind it in low
light. I put a homemade zone scale on the barrel - it works fine.

I used an early 70's model. It had alot more flare problems then my Pentax
analog model. Try some backlit situations and shadow readings on bright days.
I prefer the Pentax.

I used one for 7 years before switching to Pentax digital. The Pentax
has less flare and a more accurate spot circle. Also, a digital meter
is easier to use in low light (~ EV 2-4), and it's smaller and lighter.
