If you are in the Albuquerque area in late June stop by and say hello. The
trade show/swap meet is free and will have the following exhibitors

This will be a good opportunity to see many cameras almost side by side and
make comparisons that will help you decide on equipment.

contacted by someone at TT&H about the possible market for the old
Cooke soft focus lens. Maybe they decided to make some.

In the May/June 02 issue of View Camera there is a history of Cooke lenes and
an announcement of a new lens from them. The new lens will be premiered at the
large formnat trade show.

They were very good in their day.

For example, Ansel Adams used to swear by his triple convertible Cooke for 8x10.
He used it to make "Moonrise" for example.

I remember seeing something from an interview. When asked what lens he used for
something, Adams replied "Cooke, of course" if my memory serves.

James Bond used a Leica for 35mm work but "using of course, the Cooke
Triplet" implying that Her Majesty could afford the superior British
quality.

Before anyone starts carping that Steve is posting commercial stuff on this
site I will put in my vote that I am glad to see the announcement. The more
that know of it the more that may show up. Anything that promotes the
enjoyment of photography, especially Large Format photography, needs to be
pushed.
