Query:
Will a 90mm /1:8 Schneider Super Angulon cover 8x10? Any
hands-on experience or data from charts appreciated.

TIA,

No way. I don't think the f/8 model even covers 5x7.

Hi Ben,

Nope, not even close. It barely (or doesn't quite) cover
5x7. The image circle is speced at 216mm. You need about
another 100mm to cover 8x10 without movement. The widest
modern lens I know of that (barely) covers 8x10 is the Nikon
120mm f8 SW (image circle of 312mm). BTW, 90mm is considered
wide angle on 4x5. Something in the 150mm - 165mm is usually
considered ultrawide on 8x10.

It won't. The catalogue gives an image circle of 216mm and angle of
coverage of 100deg at infinity focus and f/22. An 8x10 would need
almost 120deg. and a 305mm image circle.

Ben,

I once used a 90mm f 5.6 schneider super angulon on an 8 X 10 to make an
interior of a very small room. Even this lens (which covers a little
more than the f 8) did not quite cover the 8 x 10. The coreners were
unexposed. It did cover 5 x 7 though.

I have the 120mm Nikkor SW and have used it twice on 8x10 (I
bought it to use on 4x5). It does cover 8x10 with no movements,
but it's so close that if you screw a normal 77mm filter on it,
it will cut off all 4 corners by about 1/4".

it will just cover 5x7. the shortest lens to cover 8x10
is the 120 nikkor sw.

It depends what you shoot. If you do landscapes the lens probably won't
cover. If you shoot still life it probably will. People always quote
image circles, those are measurements taken with the lens focused at
infinity. If you use the lens for tabletop you will always have some
magnification. The more the image is magnified the larger the image
circle becomes.

Same with the Fuji 125 f8.
