Developing Reference

Any recomendation on a goog reference book for developing film and
making prints.
I'm looking for a book that can expain everything in a very basic way,
i.e, step by step instruction on how to do it, plus the equipment and
supplies needed. I don't want something that just deals with the
concepts. It also needs to go into enough detail so I won't have to buy
another book in a week. A tall order I know, but any suggestions would
be greatly appreciated!

The publisher is the Silver Pixel Press. Many larger camera shops
carry this series.
Also get a copy of the _Kodak Black-and-White Darkroom Dataguide_.
Neither of these books is expensive.
I also suggest a trip to the library. Since you are writing from a
edu address I presume you have access to a decent library. They may
have what you are looking for.
Working with color is not much different than black and white. The
basic techniques are very similar. Modern color materials are very
easy to work with especially in comparison to those of some years ago
and are entirely practal for home darkroom use.
See if the university has a photography club or offers classes in
basic photography. You can ask specific questions here if you are
puzzled or if an instructor tells you something that makes no sense
(not all of them know what they are talking about, and not just in
photography).
