washer for dusty slides?

I have some very dusty slides that not even the
dust removal option in my scanner can clean. I want to wash them before the
scanning process. Does anybody know about a safe product and/or a way to wash
color slides?
Any hint would be greatly appreciated.

I use micro-fiber then a blow brush very lightly dipped in
ethyl-alcohol. With cap on I tip bottle, take cap off, gently swip
once with brush, hold slides upside down and brush. Most of my scans
never require any touch up work. I have a Canon FS4000 and leve FARE
set on lower dust removal setting (I think it's standard).

Check out the PEC line for a negative cleaner. I don't have first hand
experience with this, but do recall they have a product. I vaguely recall
that it might be rather toxic, so really check it out first. If you are
successful, please post your results.

Water works best.
Soak your slide then * gently * rub it with your fingers.
Worked fine for me but I patiently waited till gelatine layer was correctly wetted.
Be careful.
