Hi,

OK this might sound really dumb but today I got my brand new Canon EOS
300 and I cannot find any way or any reference in the manual to turning
it off.
Can anyone tell me how to do it?

Thanks!

No way unless you take the batteries off or have a battery pack (BP-200).

Just turn the dial to "L" position.

Put it in "L-position" (L=lock). Yes, the display shows some numbers. That's
the amount of photo's left. But it's off. You could also read the manual
that comes with it. There are more functions on that camera :0)

Stef.

It doesn't "turn off" meaning that you cannot "shut it down" without taking
the batteries out. It's just that whenever it's not in use (when the shutter
is working), the power consumption is minimal. Less than a wrist watch, just
the sufficient to keep the LCD screen working. You can, however, lock the
camera (by turning the dial to the "'L" position) so it won't take unwanted
pictures. The LCD display will keep the "film in" signal on, so you won't
open the film door and expose all the remaining film, and the number of
remaining pictures between brackets, which I take to be just for easy
checking.
