Apparently, only Leicas can take great portraits.
In that contest anyway....

Not at all, I think you could have done well with some of the
portraits you have. Personally, I didn't see anything better. I know
Canon is having a contest with the last day for submittal (I
think)5-15, and also American Photo, with I think an August submittal
dropdead date. The best way is if you have a quality six color inkjet
photo printer like the Canon S800, to send those. I think you should
give it a shot.
