Hi!

I just came across a picture of the famous fashion photographer,
Peter Lindbergh with his camera in US Vogue (April, p.40). It
looks like a Konica Hexar to me. Can somebody confirm this?

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Do you know what cameras do other famous fashion
photographer, such as Patrick Demachelier, Bruce Weber, Herb
Ritts, etc use?

I can. It's definitely a Hexar. The photos for the magazine that Lindbergh
did definitely aren't 35mm though.

>>Patrick Demachelier<<

Pentax 645 mostly

>>Bruce Weber

Pentax and Plaubel 67's and, when shooting 35mm, Contax G cameras

>>Herb Ritts

Mamiya RZ

>>Kurt Markus

Pentax 67 or Horseman VHR

>>Arthur Elgort
Graflex Super D and Pentax 645

>>Paolo Roversi

Deardorff 8x10

>>Steven Meisel

Used to use Pentax 67, now Mamiya RZ

>>E. Von Uuenworth

Nikon

>>Peggy Sirota

Hasselblad

>>R. Avedon

Rolleiflex TLR

>>Fabrizio Ferri

H'blad 205Fcc

The stuff that Lindbergh shoots in 35mm is usually very grainy and BW.
Usually printed on high contrast paper and run through Lith developer.

Von Uuenworth is a fashion photographer and last I heard she was using an
F4. The F5 has since come out, so she probably is using that.

Almost every photographer I listed earlier uses 35mm for some work. When
they do, being as image concious as they are, I'm sure they're all using
Leica or Contax. You'll find that medium format is most often used because
the magazines/photographers want the smoothness of no perceptible grain
and creamy local contrast. Look to the younger set to see more 35mm work.
The difference in rendering is pretty obvious in mostly 35mm magazines
like Sports illustrated. Compare for yourself.

How can you tell that the photos are not taken by 35mm? BTW, do

you know if Lindbergh really uses Hexar for his work? If so,
where can I find those pictures?

How come no fashion photographer uses Leica or Contax? Which
Nikon does Ellen von Uuenworth?

Who is the best/most admired/most respectable fashion
photographer in the world? What makes their work so special?
