I have not checked this group recently and suspect this subject has been
covered. (I did go back 9 days.) Anyway, I am seeking opinions on the best
films, slide & print, for photographing fall foliage. Thanks.

I just developed a few rolls of Fujichrome Velvia 50 that I shot with a red
filter and let me tell you.....BAM! The colors came out great.

I agree with Duke. Go with the Velvia 50.

Color film would probably be best.

Fuji Velvia
Fuji Provia 100F
Kodak 100VS

Velvia has the highest color saturation and is most picky about contrast.

Provia will saturate nicely but handles contrast better. It's not as
bold as far as color as Velvia though.

100VS is much like Provia I think.

I like Kodachrome 25 for autumnal colour. It's good for yellows and
browns. Qualex/Kodak processing is another matter entirely.

It all depends on the desired effect.
If you like "in your face", vulgar colors, then pick one of the saturated
/oversaturated films (Fungi Velvia, Kodak VS, Agfa Ultra.)
On the other hand if you like a more conservative color palette, pick
something like Kodachrome or a similar film.
If you like "pastel" palette with subdued colors, especially in cloudy
conditions, use a fast slide film and push it 1-2 stops (too bad that
Scotchchrome ISO 1000 is no longer made...)
You may also use a Tiffen (or similar) enhancing filter to further saturate
the reds.
And generally, you know...Duke Ellington's saying "If it sounds good - it is
good" can be easily adopted to photography...
