Hi, I just bought a Sears TLS MX500 35mm SLR camera on ebay for 40.00. I
need a starter camera for my photo class at school, but I couldn't afford
much. do any of you know much about this camera, I'm sure its probably a
piece of crap compared to todays standards, but will it get me through a 10
week quarter? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If it has TLS in its name, it is a Ricoh badged for Sears and dates from the
1970's. While Ricoh has not been among the foremost manufacturers, they did not
make "crap". If it has not been abused and the light seal foam hasn't gone
west, it should be okay. No one can tell you how long it will last.Shoot test
rolls before you depend on it.

Sears sold a 500 MX TLS. It is the same camera as the Mamiya / Sekor 500
MSX. Vintage is most likely mid '70's.

Rugged cameras, sometimes they have shutter problems and some
Pentax SMC lenses may jam if mounted on the camera.

An excellent first/student camera.
