It's near the end of the quarter in class and my brain is fried.

I need to take a picture of a Found Still Life. I have no clue what to try,
any general ideas? I live in Cleveland so the weather isn't exactly great.
The studio still life was easy,I have no idea what to do for this one, all
of my ideas could be classified as architectural detail pictures. Help!! Any
idea is appreciated.
Thanks

Try a restaurant table after a meal, but before it is cleaned up.

Try just going out and looking for something
different, Found still life is just a fancy
phrase for walking up on something and going
wow, that be a different picture.

Not sure what your tutor means by "found" - does he mean strictly not
arranged? Some of these ideas fit that definition better than others.

(1) A graphic artist's desk with lots of coloured pens etc and a
half-finished drawing

(2) A selection of engineer's measuring tools (micrometers, vernier
gauges, rulers) - great practice at photographing metal!

(3) A partially-dismantled computer with a few plug-in boards on the
bench.

(4) A family collection of footwear.

(5) A few gardening implements from your shed.

(6) A collection of various pieces of ammunition, shotgun shells etc.

(7) Some fisherman's gear around the docks (if they have docks in
Cleveland).

(8) The trash left behind after a sports match.

(9) A collection of books, CDs or records.

(10) If any member of your family served in the armed forces, try a
table scene with an article of uniform (say cap or jacket), their forces
documents and some personal items relating to their service.

IMO, one tends to do better with this sort of thing if one has some
affinity with or knowledge of the subject, or there is a family theme.

Try any number of things:

- a sports equipment room (bats/sticks, gloves, uniforms, etc.)
- a musical instrument(s) during a musician(s) break between sets
- an operating room immediately after surgery (permission needed)
- an ambulance returning to the station house before its cleaned up
- a snack table after a party (empty bottles, strewn pretzels, etc.)
- a partially disassembled car in a garage
- a vacant, unswept barber's station
- a closed casket adorned with a floral spray
- a cop's badge, gun and handcuffs (if you know a cop)
- a painter's easel, brushes and palette
- a house under construction

There are eleven ideas; I'm sure you can top mine. Go for it, and good luck!

An empty picture frame on the wall
A thermometer
A sock, really used, threadbare, but clean.
A stack of books on the library return cart.
A well used wooden toy
Something on a window ledge, shoot from inside out. What DOF to use? Try
several.
An instrument (musical, mechanical, electronic)
A really old decrepit radio
The foot of a sofa
A door stopper
A doorknob
A boomhead
A mailbox
A stone
Under the kitchen sink

There is no end of still life out there. It's a great way to "isolate". Great
opportunity to fool with restricted lighting sources...

Cheers,
Alan

You forgot the all-important recommendations to tilt the camera, make
sure the shot is slightly out of focus and then add some camera shake
just to improve the effect. You could get the exposure wrong too.

Of course I learnt all this from looking at your work.
