What are the key differences between the F70 and F80.

The F80 won't be released here in Australia until a couple of months time,
I'm looking to buy a camera now and wondering whether it's worthwhile
waiting until the F80 can be purchased here.

Thanks.

I'm a newbie to these cameras, but have been doing a lot of comparions. Some
of the biggest differeneces are:

N80 cannot meter with manual lenses.
N80 has CAM900 AF system, improved over the N70
N80 takes many other features that are on the F100 that the N70 obviously
lacks.

If you search for "N80" on deja.com in this specific forum, you'll find at
least 300 posts to answer ANY possible question.

Hey Simon,
I was in this exact situation just a few days ago. I'm
taking a photography class, and was trying to put off buying a
camera by borrowing a friends while I researched the difference
between the two cameras. In the end, I decided the N80 wasn't
worth waiting for, and went with the N70. I'm extrememely
pleased.
N70 - Faster flim advance 3.7fps and 2.0 fps
Can meter manual lenses (a big plus)
Time tested (With any new camera you run the risk of
having unforseen problems.
You can buy it now.

N80 - Double exposures
Depth of field preview
Better matrixing
Newer technology

Well, those are the factors that I considered. Good luck. Let
me know what you do.

Simon;

Although it doesn't directly answer your question, you can find
everything you ever wanted to know about Nikon cameras at:

http://www.nikonlinks.com

Simply scroll down until you find the N/F80 and N/F70 sections. You can
also find detailed specifications supplied by one of your Aussie mates at:

http://www.maxwell.com.au/photo/cameras/slr/f80.html

I really lust for a F100, but I can't quite justify it to my wife. The N80
seems to offer just about everything that the F100 does with only a modest
sacrifice of performance. So I'll probably wait the extra 2 months until
it's released in the US.

Just bought a new N70 with 28-105mm Nikkor Zoom.
I looked briefly at the specs of new N80 and decided to get
N70. I'm glad I did.

What is the price difference going to be between the two cameras? And I
heard that Nikon has stopped production of the N70, is this true?
Thanks for the help

If you are missing a few months of taking pic's, then you
probably lose more than you'll lose choosing one camera
over the other.
If you still have a working camera, wait a few month's.
