Could any one tell me how to make double exposures with my Minolta X-700?

have you tried holding in the black button on the bottom of the camera
as you advance the frame? you know the button you mash in when you are
going to rewind the film! try it , it works for me and my minoltas!

Make the first exposure, press the film rewind release button on the
bottom of the camera, cycle the film advance lever, make the second
exposure. You may want to set the exposure compensation at -1 stops,
unless you are exposing manually. Herein lies the rub: if you are using
a bogen hex plate and base, the button is covered by the quick release
mechanism; so, you must rotate the hex plate 60 degrees, or use the
winder-D in the "off" position.

Lesaus (les...@aol.com) would say:

If registration of the two images has to be fairly precise (it'll never
be completely precise -- for that get a camera that provides this as a
feature), you'll need a third hand to keep the film rewind crank from
moving slightly. For this I recommend first taking up any slack with
the rewind crank, and then using masking tape to tape that sucker down
while you perform "the procedure" with the two hands you came with.
