I am seeking information on a second hand camera I have
purchased, there is no manual with it and I would like to
get a copy of one if at all possible so I can better
understand how to use the camera's features
It is a "Kyocera SlimT" compact camera. It looks similar to
the Yashica T4/T5 but does not have a top view finder.
It is made in Japan and has the following:
- serial No 104557,
- Carl Zeiss T* Tessar 3.5/35 lens
- date back with a number of date imprinting options
- built in flash
- several operating modes selected by a button on the top
1 - one flash symbol ? auto flash
2 - two flash symbols ? red eye reduction
3 - a sun symbol ? fill in flash - day light
4 - a moon symbol ? night mode - no flash
5 - an infinity sign ??? for what
- self timer of 10 seconds
- tripod socket in base
- film rewind button recessed in base
- a red and a green LED in the view finder
Can you help me?
I have searched the internet to no avail, one reply
suggested it may be a Yashica T3 or a T3 SuperD but I
wouldn't know as I cant find these on the Net either.

Thanks for the help

Hi,

I have the T4super (US model) and most of your guesses seem to be right.
Can't tell you what it is in the US (maybe a T4 non-"super", i.e. w/o the
top viewfinder) but as for the features I might help with my T4super
experience:

> 1 - one flash symbol ? auto flash

yes. comes on by default.

> 2 - two flash symbols ? red eye reduction

mine has an eye symbol for that, but the way it works is, pre-flash, hence
double flash (quite some delay).

> 3 - a sun symbol ? fill in flash - day light

mine has a "forced flash" symbol as opposed to regular auto flash (which
turns on for fill in flash automatically if backlight during daylight
situations)

> 4 - a moon symbol ? night mode - no flash

mine has a barred flash symbol for that

> 5 - an infinity sign ??? for what

sets the lens to infinity when taking picture through a window or when other
conditions might inhibit the autofocus system.

>- self timer of 10 seconds
>- tripod socket in base
>- film rewind button recessed in base

>- a red and a green LED in the view finder

When you depress the shutter ever so lightly, the green light will come on
when focus and exposure are possible and set. As long as you don't release
the button, these will be locked (to reposition your framing if the camera
would otherwise meter an unessential part of the picture) until you push it
fully down. Unfortunately the pressure necessary for metering is very
similar to the one for exposing - I often inadvertently took pics when I
just wanted to lock the focus.

Otherwise, this camera is great, the lens is great, although it has some
vignetting (visible on, say, uniformly blue skies) and since you can't
pre-select a smaller aperture you have to live with the program mode which
will choose high apertures for fast speeds in all situations. The camera is
also rainproof (though, no full immersions please!).

Hope this helps.
