After finally getting operational with the very helpful advice found here.
My initial reaction is that it is a fantastic old enlarger. And what a piece
of cake to get critical focus as compared to my D2. Anyone out there use the
"color" filters in the condenser head for color printing. Just asking as it
is so easy to use. Yes, I have a source for the 12 x12 polycontrast as well
as color filters and at a very reasonable price. All said, It is a fine
upgrade from my D2. I don't print a massive amount of prints but the Durst
is sure a pleasure to use although a little to the monstrous side.
By far the best enlarger I've ever used.
Thanks to all.

Durst makes enlargers. All other companies make coffee cans with a light in it.

Well, not all other companies. While Durst are built like a tank, IMHO,
my ZBE Sentinel is built as well as any Durst enlarger. So is my Leica
V35. I understand that Devere are also very well made. I do agree that
there are a lot enlargers that are not built with the level of precision
that make these great enlargers a pleasure to use.

Heh heh ! Another touchy subject !

I do have to say that the Durst is certainly the best thought out enlarger
that I have owned. But if I ever hit the lottery I'm getting a
ESECO-Speedmaster. A complete AF-1010 system. Probably cost more than most cars
!

Yes. The LPL is one of the better coffee cans. (grin)

Like most of them. But then again photography is not a precision practice.

My ZBE Sentinel cost me $18,000. That is without lenses and shipping.
But it is worth it.

I have the Durst L184 with motor everything and it is wicked. I also use teh
Devere regularly and they are really nice as well.

Wow ! $18,K ! Unfortunately I'm only vaguely familiar with the ZBE
enlargers. Should I assume that it uses a QH lamp ? Is it a floor standing unit
? Also which lenses are you using ?
