Hello, people.

I am in the market for a second-hand enlarger. I was told recently
that there were two Durst models which should be avoided because the
bulbs are no longer available.

Can anyone conform or deny this info? If it is true, can anyone let me
know the models to avoid?

Also, anyone in North Wales, Cheshire, Merseyside, Staffordshire,
Lancashire, Greater Manchester or thereabouts with a good colour
enlarger for sale ... please drop me an e-mail (but beware the spam
trap!).

Ta,
Alistair.

I do enlargers every day and have yet to have a problem finding a bulb. You
might have some problem finding a 250 Volt bulb in GB but they are available.
If all else fails there is Bulbman in Reno Nevada, USA. They have them all.

Alistair,

Speak to Northern Photo-Electrical Services (0113 255 9680) in Leeds.
They are the Service Agents for Durst UK and are staggeringly helpful
and knowledgable regarding Durst models old & new. They regularly take
old enlargers as part-exchanges for new ones, so have an almost
bewilderingly large range of spares for old enlargers (although they did
fail to find me a lens board for a 606, but then so did everyone else).
They would certainly know if bulbs are available or not.

Good luck, Bob

By this do you mean via Durst? If so, there is prob. an identical bulb
available through other sources ( and at 1/4 - ish - the cost ). Durst
now only list 2 or 3 bulbs, the 12V dichro, and 2 ES 240V bulbs, a 75W
and a 150W all of which are staggeringly expensive.

The bulb for the Durst C35 is no longer obtainable and for those that
own them Durst are doing a fairly good trade-in offer on their M370
model (35mm only). My old Durst 302 Colour had some bulb problems -
poor connectivity resulting in varying light intensity, but I was able
to fix that by dismantling the enlarger and cleaning the contacts.

Unto Kim Fullbrook & Alistair Hamilton,

Greetings. Having just glanced at your posts I may suggest that you
contact a company in the US named Blubman. I am sure thay have an 800 toll
free number and are located in Reno Nevada. My studio has found a number
of rare items through them... Naturally they don't have everything...

Contact Northern Photo Services in Leeds (0113 255 9680). They are the
Durst UK service agents and very helpful. Just before Christmas I was
having trouble getting parts for a 606 and they offered me a brilliant
p/ex deal on a new M370 Easycolor - which has proved really good.
Alternatively, you could ring Durst UK (check Website for number).
Beware the E-mail, I tried them three weeks ago......... and still I
wait.
Bob.
