I am currently developing B&W with a Beseler Cadet, but am on the
lookout for a better used enlarger. Cameta has a ("solid mint-")
Saunders 670 LPL Dichroic Color Enlarger with baseboard, halogen lamp in
DA-2 dichroic lamphead, red filter, 35mm negative carrier, and 50mm
f/3.5 coated enlarging lens advertised for $359.

Can anyone offer an opinion on the quality of this enlarger? What is
its vintage? How is it similar to or different from the current
Saunders 670MXL enlarger model?

Thanks in advance,
Jim

Jim,

The enlarger is very good, but who's lens is he giving you?

I have a Saunders 670DXL enlarger and it is excellent. The current model is
the 670MXL and from what I can see it's identical to mine. I've had mine
about 4 years and the alignment is still perfect. I'd be more concerned
about the quality of the lens. The price for the package seems reasonable.

Jim: This is a great enlarger for 6X7 and smaller at what looks like a great
price. I sold a 670DXL (the model after the 670LPL) about a month ago for
twice that price. With very few changes the 670LPL is only one model removed
from the Current 670mxl

Are you sure it is not the D6700 Dichroic model? I own the D6700 Dichroic and
really like it alot. The build quality is excellent and it is a much more
compact setup than the Besseler compareable range model. All Saunders enlargers
are of very high qulaity and should last last you many years. Not familiar
with all the specific differences between it and the 670MXL except that the MXL
is a higher end model that will print larger prints on it's baseboard, has
focusing knobs on both sides of the head, easier setup for floor projection.
Sorry but I can't remember them all as my Saunders brochure is not handy with
me right now. Their WEB site is http://www.saundersphoto.com. Check it out.
