I have one of these enlargers (bought in 1989), but I've lost the owners
manual. I'd like to add a longer lens than the 50mm I currently use. Most of
the lenses offered by the various stores seem to be 39mm threads - but when I
took off the Nikon 50mm lens from my enlarger, it appeared to have much smaller
threads (more like 29mm - perhaps 25mm?).

Does anyone have one of these enlargers to help me sort out if I need something
more than just a new lens (a lensboard perhaps?) if I want to buy something in
the 80mm lens range? Or are there currently available lenses with smaller
thread mounts? I talked with the current distributor of the Saunders/LPL
enlargers earlier this year, and they were of no help.

Thanks,

Pat

I have one of these and it is a 39mm thread. To be sure, you can take off
the lens board (the circular cup the lens screws into and which is held in
place by a hand screw to the right of the lens (facing the enlarger)) and
take it with you to a photo store.

The only trick using an 80mm lens is that you reverse the lens board,
thereby extending the distance from the front element of the lens to the
negative plane.

Hope this helps,

According to the Saunders web site
http://www.saundersphoto.com/html/670specs.htm I do not see a reference to a
"DXL" but there is the CXL and the MXL which are both standard 39mm. I own a
D6700 of which their is a C6700 which is the same model but I guess numbered
differently for different markets. I would guess that may be the same situation
with your model being the same as the CXL.

Hi Pat,

Typically there may be a sizing ring to take it from 25/29-39mm, or you will
need a whole new lens board. I own a 670DXL and I just found the manual!!
After reading it, it doesn't have part numbers in it for different lens
boards. Do you need a copy of the manual? I can try to scan it and create
a PDF file.

I myself use 2 Schneider Componon S lenses on it; which I believe are 39mm.

Regards,
George
