The first couple (Ghalib and Roshini), played by Rajat Kapoor and Tisca Chopra, have been married for seven years. However, the wife is constantly followed by her paranoid husband who works as a herbal potion vendor. The second couple (Shweta and Peter), played by Tara Sharma and Neil Bhoopalam, are in love and want to elope because Tara Sharma has a marriage arrangement. Her would-be groom, Neil, who is played by Purab Kohli, is also in a long-term, complex relationship with Minnie, played by Koel Purie. On the eve of their marriage, all three couples have assembled. The insecure husband strains his relationship due to his suspicious behavior and in an attempt to fix his married life, his mother gives him a herbal potion. 'Josh-E-Jawaani.'[5] She tells him to give a minuscule portion to his wife to make her lust for him. He tries, but is unable to do so as his wife is moving to the jungle. The other two couples are thrown into a sticky situation when the men accidentally take a sip of the potion, falling in love with the girl escaping her husband. ("Why marry me and not just bring home Irfan Pathan?").[7]</div><div></div><div></div><div>The Times of India rated the movie 2.5 out of 5 stars, and commented on the witty comedy and rough sketch of love stories, while criticizing the movie for lacking depth in its story and blurry camerawork.[9][5]</div><div></div><div></div><div>10ml Love</div><div></div><div>Cast: Purab Kohli, Koel Purie Rinchet, Rajat Kapoor, Tisca Chopra, Tara Sharma</div><div></div><div>Direction: Sharat Katariya</div><div></div><div>Rating: </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>Every now and then, Bollywood is inspired by Shakespeare. While Vishal Bhardwaj did a fabulous job not long ago with the Bard of Avon's intense idiom in Maqbool and Omkara, budding filmmaker Sharat Katariya sets out to tap lighter moods.</div><div></div><div></div><div>In sync with the play, the film is set against the backdrop of a wedding and unfolds over a single night. Neil (Purab) is getting married to Shweta (Tara) but he can't get over Mini (Koel). Shweta plans to elope with Peter (Neil Bhoopalam). Roshni the mehndiwaali (Tisca) has a suspicious husband, Ghalib (Rajat), who follows her to the wedding. Ghalib has a love potion that, he feels, will make Roshni fall in love with him all over again. Predictably, the potion falls in wrong hands at wrong moments and the stage is set for comic twists.</div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>10ml Love is unusual by Bollywood standards, tracking love, fidelity and desires. But the film needed more assured direction. A talented cast does an impressive job, though.Published By: AtMigration Published On: Dec 7, 2012--- ENDS ---</div><div></div><div></div><div>The film begins on the eve of a wedding as we meet the primary players. The bride (Tara Sharma) who plans to elope with her timid church-musician boyfriend (Neil Bhoopalam), the groom (Purab Kohli) who has just spent the night with his lover and best friend (Koel Purie), the mehndi artist (Tisca Chopra) who is constantly followed by her ever-suspicious insecure husband (Rajat Kapoor), a herbal potion vendor and a motley crew of ragtag actors (Brijendra Kala, Manurishi Chaddha among others) trying to rehearse for their amateur staging of the Ramayana . As the characters decide to go get the love of their life during the wedding, a magic love potion thrown into the mix, turns it into a comedy of err... poetic justice.</div><div></div><div></div><div>The film 10ml Love is writer-director Sharat Katariya's take on William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. It is a well adapted and simple contemporary story set in an Indian milieu. 10ml Love opens with a bunch of Ramlila artistes rehearsing for a show, and slowly merges into the world of the three main couples in the story. The lives of the couples are smoothly interlocked and connected by the celebrations of Shweta (Tara Sharma) and Neel's (Purab Kohli) impending wedding, pretty much as in Shakespeare's play. The potion creates havoc in the lives of the three couples for one night. The 10ml love potion sorts out their lives, enabling each one to get back to the real love of their lives, albeit after a night of complexities and confusion. Koel Purie as Mini, the girl who madly loves Neel, essays her character with panache. Especially commendable are her expressions fraught with surprise and frustration in the climax scene, where both men are chasing her. There's the father, a successful Chicago attorney who has alwaystaken the love of his family for granted. There's the wife, an expensivelymaintained, perfectly groomed, cheerful homemaker whom "everyoneloves." The movie begins just as all of this is falling apart.</div><div></div><div></div><div>The movie's central problems circle almost fearfully around the complexities oflove. The parents and their remaining child all "love" one another,of course. But the father's love for the son is sincere yet also inarticulate, almost shy. The son's love for his mother is blocked by his belief that shedoesn't really love him, she only loved the dead brother. And the love betweenthe two parents is one of those permanent facts that both take for granted andneither has ever really tested.</div><div></div><div></div><div>At the center of the change is the surviving son, Conrad, played by awonderfully natural young actor named Timothy Hutton. He is absolutely torturedas the film begins; his life is ruled by fear, low self-esteem, and the correctperception that he is not loved by his mother. He starts going to apsychiatrist (Judd Hirsch) after school. Things are hard for this kid. Heblames himself for his brother's death. He's a semi-outcast at school becauseof his suicide attempt and hospitalization. He does have a few friends, a girlhe met at the hospital, and another girl who stands behind him at choirpractice and who would, in a normal year, naturally become his girlfriend. Butthere's so much turmoil at home.</div><div></div><div></div><div>The turmoil centers around the mother (Mary Tyler Moore, inspired casting forthis particular role, in which the character masks her inner sterility behind afacade of cheerful suburban perfection). She does a wonderful job of runningher house, which looks like it's out of the pages of Better Homes and Gardens. She's active in community affairs, she's an organizer, she's an ideal wife andmother, except that at some fundamental level she's selfish, she can't reallygive of herself, and she has, in fact, always loved the dead older son more. The father (Donald Sutherland) is one of those men who wants to do and feel theright things, in his own awkward way. The change he goes through during themovie is one of the saddest ones: Realizing his wife cannot truly care forothers, he questions his own love for her for the first time in their marriage.</div><div></div><div></div><div>10ml Love is a 2012 Indian movie directed by Sharat Katariya starring Tisca Chopra, Rajat Kapoor, Tara Sharma and Neil Bhoopalam. She then describes her change of heart as the years went by: \u201CWhile feminist thinking enabled me to reach beyond the boundaries set by patriarchy, it was the search for wholeness, for self-recovery, that led me back to my dad. My reconciliation with my father began with my recognition that I wanted and needed his love, and that if I couldn\u2019t have that love, then at least I needed to heal the wound in my heart that his violence had created\u201D she says. I deeply resonate with this feeling, and I\u2019m on the path to healing this wound.</div><div></div><div></div><div>Lately, I have been observing flowers grow where stagnant water used to lay. I\u2019ve seen men questioning themselves, wanting to heal, connect to the body, and love. I find the movies of Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami incredibly poetic in the way they depict the masculine. Men with flowers who speak about art, men who are on the verge of suicide but find their life back by reconnecting to awe, men who ask for help, who cry.</div><div></div><div> dd2b598166</div>
