Hi. It's been ages since I posted, but Ezra (my 2.5 yr Golden) has
something that puzzles me so I wanted to ask the collective net.widsom:

He has a dent in his side. It is about 3/4 of the way from his neck to
his tail, just forward of his right hind leg. It is high up on his back,
a few inches from his spine. Just to one side (forward and lower down) is
a small, seemingly related bulge. The dent, not the bulge, is clearly
visible. Both are obvious when you touch him. One or the other is
sensitive when you brush him (which is how we found them), and
*occasionally* when you touch them, but not usually. It is not a surface
thing, there is no wound, the skin is healthy, no coat problems, etc.
Aside from some slight vomiting about 2 weeks ago, he is in otherwise
exuberant health. There is no similar bulge/dent in his other side -- or
anywhere else.

We are curious and mildly concerned. Does anyone have any ideas or past
experience? I've never heard of dented dogs before!

Please reply via e-mail to mega...@aol.com (Meg Arnold to people on
AOL). Looking forward to it, and thanks --

I don't know about dents, but my dog (5 month old lab/beagle
mix) has a kink in her tail - it takes a 90 degree turn at the
tip. It also looks healthy underneath + everything - how does
it happen? Anyone?

SEE YOUR VET, IMMEDIATELY!!! YOUR DOG MAY HAVE A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM
AND MIGHT NEED TREATMENT. I TRULY HOPE YOUR DOG IS OK, BUT ARE YOU
REALLY WILLING TO TAKE THAT KIND OF CHANCE? THINK ABOUT IT!
