The following question and answer was in Parade magazine in last
Sunday's newspaper:
Q: I just watched the romantic comedy _Return to Me_ on video.
What breed was Mel, David Duchovny's dog?
A: Mel was played by a 95-pound American bulldog named Peetey.
His trainer, StacyBasil, rescued Peety when his owners planned
to take him to the pound. Basil tells us this 7-year-old
canine enjoyed a close working relationship with his co-stars:
David Duchovney, 39, who owns three dogs, brough special doggie
treats to the set; and Minnie Drive, 29, often got on the floor
to play with Peetey. Now between jobs, the pooch spends his days
chewing on dried pigs' ears. Looks like he won't be cast in any
_Babe_ sequels.
