We are a Maryland family desperately trying to find our lost family member,
Minnie, our dog. She was picked up by a motorist at a NY rest stop while we
were traveling home from a Thanksgiving visit with relatives on Sat. 11/28/97 @
2:30pm
While packing everyone in the car (including Minnie) Minnie slipped out of her
collar unnoticed. We pulled away and when we looked under her blanket to remove
her leash-all that remained was her collar and tags...We immediatly returned to
the rest stop to find that Minnie had been picked up by anothertraveler. My six
year old cried the entire seven hour trip home, for she was his best friend.
We have contacted every possible humaine society, shelter, police department,
vet., pet stores, news, newspapers, t.v. stations, web sites, two 14 hour trips
back to the area in which we lost her, hundreds of phone calls, posters, door
to door search, the Rosie O'Donnell Show...... and this is our last hope...
The rest stop was located in Campbell, NY--Route 15/17--approx. 10 miles from
the Pennsylvania border. The attendant on duty witnessed Minnie running
frantically through the parking lot. He said people were trying to catch her
and at one point she hid under his truck. He said that Minnie was rescued and
drivenoff on the lap of a woman (somewhere in her 30-40's ?) in a green-newer
model car.
We are hoping to locate that person or anyone with information that may lead to
her return. We love and miss Minnie so much. My son prays every night that
she will come back home and my two year old wanders around the house with
Minnie's dog dish calling "Mimmie".
Minnie is a small white shaggy female with black ears and black around her
eyes, a black spot on her back and a long shaggy tail. She has the fur of a
lapsa and the build of a poodle. She is drawn to children, loves attention,
and is very very fast.
Please call if you have any information that would help us find our Minnie,
please call Bonnie at (301)843-1171 or send e-mail to AWh...@aol.com. A
picture of Minnie and additional information on the $2000 reward may be found
at www.heinzpet.com.
Sincerely,
The Jenkins family
