My question is, I've noticed that a lot of people put Linatone in their dogs'
food. What is Linatone? Do you have to get it from a vet or can you find it
at a larger pet supply store?
Thanks.

Linatone is available in pet supply stores with other supplements (like
brewer's yeast, PetTabs, etc.). Basically it consists of a variety of oils (I
just tossed my last bottle of it).
I used it with Winter and Chloe when the weather started to turn cold and I
turned the heat on as well and they got a good case of the itchies. I've also
gone to a food with a bit higher fat content in it.
Yes, Linatone did seem to cure the itchies for the most part, but... Chloe's
coat in particular and Winter's to a certain extent got a bit oily (more than
I like). It didn't give them the runs, but it did make them poop more loosely
(and they weren't on the "recommended" dosage)... so keep it light.
You might also look for a product known as LyfeLine. Again, expensive, but it
doesn't seem to leave their coats as greasy. (I think either Farnam or Four
Paws makes Linatone. And, btw... the bottle gets oily, too, from your
hands... and remember to shake well before serving :-)

Sorry, vitamins are NOT going to help an allergy problem.
(They sure don't do anything for mine at any rate! :-) Both
allergies and vitamin deficiencies can cause skin problems in
dogs, but the treatment for each is different. For an allergy
problem--and I'm assuming you have good reason to think it is
such, since you have such a definitive list of allergens--you've
got a couple of different options: antihistamines (I use Benedryl
in my flea-allergic dog with good results), cortisone, and
de-sensitization shots are probably the most commonly used.
But ask your vet for more specific advice.

I was just going to post a question similair to yours. but here is
what i know so far. Linatone is basically oil containing vitamin E and
other vitaamins which i dont quiet remeber right now. It helps condition
the skin, just vit E does for people. I was just told that you can give
the dog
flax or lin seed oil for the same results. Any health food store should
have them.
hope this helps
