Hmmm, this is a new one, a Pyrenean Mastiff? I'd like to hear
more about this breed as I am a big dog lover. Any relation to
a Great Pyrenes?

: The breed is from almost the same area as the Great Pyrenees - It is a
: Spanish breed, while the G.Pyr is from France. (Sort of like the Collie
: Vs. the Border collie). The homepage is:
: http://www.oicu2.com/mastiff - check out the photo album, these are
: beautiful dogs.

Actually, I just looked it up and they're not... apparently they're
closely related, though. These dogs are *huge*.

The pyrenean mastiff is in fact a separate breed, being much taller, and bigger
boned then a great pyr.
At the World Show in Puerto Rico there was a beautiful PM . He was from
Finland. Unfortuneately the kennel that has the elaborate web site promoting
the breed in the U.S. would be considered by many to be exploitative. They
also sell Great Pyrs, and they have come under much attack from the fancy, for
there apparent lack of health screening, and other unPC breeding practices.
So buyer beware.............
