Nice job, really great middle tones and detail. Is this scratchboard or maybe
white colored pencil on black board? A lot of my work starts on a black base -
I find the results more dramatic.

I agree with you there...esp when working w/ lighter colored dogs (such as
sables w/ alot of white!). I haven't done it in a long time...but am
desperately searching for a sheet of that brushed, almost velvety, type
coated paper for pastels. I've been dying to do an oil pastel on it of this
really groovy photo I took of Coda in some deep, gorgeous green grass &
great lighting (for an amatuer) from behind. I used to paint & draw all
of the time (mostly charcoal or white or black base), pastel, and
watercolors...and sort of miss it.
Shelly, Coda & Guiness...
very nicely done...

Hi Chris,
You were right the first time...it is scratchboard...Its a fun medium.I like
the effect, although when doing a "smooth" dog as opposed to the hairy
ones,it gets challenging. Not easy to make a smooth looking surface using a
miniature razor blade!
Thanks for the compliment!

Wow!!! You are awesome! I wish I could draw half as good as you can!!!
You did an excellent job. Now I have to get my three to pose so I can
snap a pic and send it to you. What do you charge? You really do
fantastic work!

If you truly are serious...try to get nice close head shots. And you dont
have to get them all in one photo.Separate is easier, that way you can
concentrate on getting a good shot of each dog.
Let me know...Im always around!

Sounds great Racheal! It will be after Christmas. A present from me to
me! <G> Do you need regular photos by snail mail or would an e-mailed
pic from the digital camera do? (I've got my mom's very awesome Sony
Mavica which takes incredible photos)

Darlene,
Just as long as the photos are of a high enough resolution, and have good
detail,it should not be a problem
using a digital camera.
Real photos are ultimately the "best" to work from, but I have done artwork
using stuff I pulled off the internet.
And after Christmas would be soooooo wonderful....LOL
