Better put lemon juice and vinegar in your squirt gun
in case he likes gettin humped and won't let you stop.
If he objects to you humpin his leg or won't let you
stop when you've finished, that means he's being
dominant so you'll need to train him:

Humpin is a SYMPTOM of anxiHOWESNESS.

Humpin is a SYMPTOM of STRESS. We recently
had a thread abHOWET humping. Seems MOST

They're INTIMIDATED by their abusers.

My dog, Dasie, Loves to chase chameleons

It's possible to teach a dog not to eat out
of a cat bowl without too much difficulty.
My dogs don't touch the food in the cat bowls
although Roz licks up any bits that have been
dropped around the bowls :-)
I used a can with stones in it to create a
distraction anytime the dogs tried to eat
the cats food, followed with immediate praise.
It worked a treat.
The cats bowls are down all the time, usually
there is food left over but the dogs don't eat it,
even if we go out and leave the dogs with
access inside through a dog door.

I assume that I and my wife are those two

This naive child would like to say thank you
to both Jerry and Marilyn for putting up with
a constant barrage of really infantile crap at
the hands of supposedly adult dog lovers.
The other naive child (LSW) has to put up with
the nagging idea that if people like them had
been posting earlier, maybe we would not have
had to hold the head of a really magnificent
animal in our arms while he was given the
needle and having to hug him and wait until

To my mind, "naive" is believing you can
terrorize a dog into good behavior. Naive is
believing that people that hide behind fake
names are more honest than people that use
their real names.
Naive is thinking that dilettante dog breeders
and amateur "trainers" like Joey

"Stupid" is believing that people do not see

HEY!!!
There is a Valid Valerie with a REAL Dalmatian
who is a real sweet dog with a few issues that I
am working to resolve after adopting her from a
shelter she spent 2 years in.
All I want is to get some decent help for my dog.
There is some decent stuff in Jerry's manual.
My dog has ACTUALLY been responding to
her training. The deal is you have to separate
your opinions and impressions from the guy
who is writing these posts and take from the
manual what you want.
Personally, I get a pretty good chuckle out
of the whole Jerry thing. I have to say the
guy is pretty clever, you're letting him get
under your skin.
It makes for a very amusing game I think.
I'm sure he would agree, or he wouldn't
be playing everyday.
He also wouldn't be playing if he didn't believe
that his method of training weren't valid.
Perhaps I'll learn from my mistakes, but so far,
using the Wits' End, I have gotten my dalmatian
to listen to me, to look to me for direction, to wait
for me to say when.
I have changed her from an aggressive dog
to one who is willing to please her owner,
willing to listen, willing to assume her role
in the pack.
The real Valerie M. Holmes speaking
P.s. Jerry, don't get any ideas about morphing
into me, ok?

shouldn't have problems associated with it if the facility
was reasonable, and if they're not killin dogs they couldn't
be as cruel as our dog lovers janet boss john richardson
and mikey ball who gladly help dogs DIE.

GUARANTEE NEVER to have a dog behavior
problem again and your dog will ALWAYS
WANT to do as you ask.
IMPOSSIBLE? It gets EVEN BETTER! Stick around...
> 1. She is aggresive toward **ALL** other dogs,
Ooops! WE got a TOUGH problem here. I hope you're fit,
dog training is a physical skill not easily learned through
books, the written word just can't SHOW you the precise
moves necessary for commanding a dog.
Every dog is an individual, and we got to SEE the behaviors to
even GUESS what's going on with
your dog. THEN we got to formulate a training
program based on the individual dog's requirements
for physical and emotional PRESSURE and learn
the fine art of attrition and have the expertise to hurt
your dog PRECICELY, and ONLY WHEN NECESSARY.
But FIRST, a trip to the vet is in order. Any sudden changes in
behavior needs to be examined by the
veterinarian and he'll be able to give you a referral
to such an expert who knows HOWE and when to
HURT your dog properly to make it friendly or advise
you when to KILL IT TO BE FAIR.
So, tomorrow morning call your vet and make an appointment in 15
days to put your dog to sleep.
Ask him HOWE MUCH. Hang up the phone and
SPEAK TO NO ONE!!!
SAY NOTHING TILL you put that money into an
envelope with your dog's name PRINTED on it
in UPPER CASE thingys.
MAKE SURE you GO DIRECTLY TO THE BANK, SPEAK
NOTHING!, and withdraw ONLY NEW BILLS!
If you cannot obtain NEW currency KEEP GOIN!
We need CLEAN MONEY for this SACRIFICE.
When you accept this money DO NOT TOUCH!
HAVE THE TELLER PUT THE BILLS INTO THE
ENVELOPE AND SEAL IT.
ASK HER TO PRINT YOUR DOG'S NAME
ON THE BACK,
Ooops! DON'T! That's just an expression.
Hand the teller a note. DON'T SPEAK!
NOT THE FRONT. THE BACK OF THE
SACRIFICIAL ENVELOPE IN UPPER
CASE THINGY'S.
Now you can speak, but don't, nobody
will believe you. Trust me. Take the
envelope to your HOWES and put it
inside your pillow case and FORGET
ABOUT IT. Don't need that for two weeks yet.
> even dogs that have shown that they are
> willing to be submissive.
Oooops? What's that mean? I don't understand doggietalkie.
You mean she attacks other dogs, boys, girls,
puppys, all dogs? Good. That tells me we
consistency going for us to fix it.
When does she get an opportunity to have a dog cower?
> Upon sight of a dog, she lunges and snarls.
O.K., that's GOOD! That tells me we can
probably break the lunging in a few minutes
of work. Maybe five, but we'll need to repeat
it a few times to generalize the idea.
And we'll need to do a little work to learn to
handle her properly, maybe an hour over
several 15 minute sessions and a half dozen
5 minute sessions. I hope your ciphering is
keepin up with us.
> 2. She is usually kind and affectionate
> toward her owner (me),
Well, usually? I don't like usually. I like always,
consistent, 100%, that's what's good. Always
consistent. Consistent behaviors change to
other, often seemingly un related, consistent
behaviors.
Dogs like consistency too, but not repression.
You'll see.
> but recently began turning sour
Ooops! That's good. That tells me the rest of
the problem is as I thought, JUST a little
mishandling. I'll teach you every thing you
need to know. We're about half way
done training aready. WATCH!
> and for no apparent reason
All problem dog behaviors are a PREDICTABLE
direct result of our ineffective and inappropriate
responses to our dog's innate normal natural
instinctive reflexive responses to circumstances
of their environment WE create for them.
I'll teach you HOWE to train yourself to respond
differently to your dog's instinctive reflexes to you,
which will cause your dog to reflex differently to
your CONDITIONED reflexive responses and
interactions towards him, compelling him
to NATURALLY WANT to do EVERY THING
you ask, cause THAT'S THE NATURE OF
THE BEAST.
Once YOU have learned proper handling techniques
and appropriate non physical control through conditioned
distraction and praise *(ABOUT 2 HRS WORK, maybe
less,) you'll be able to negotiate any obstacle LIKE
MAGICK, relying on scientific conditioning and desensitization
techniques and demonstrated self
control as explained in our Contract.. err, your
FREE Wits' End Dog Training Method Manual
available for FREE at http://www.doggydoright.com .
Ahem.
Unless you got that one in a BAZILLION dog that's
gonna throw Jerry the dew claw. Don't let that happen.
I'll work you through the whole process and you'll see
results tommorow.
You'll have the behavior in pretty good shape
in a week, and in about ten days we should be
ready to start introducing her to a couple select
dogs in about fifteen minutes of work and then
we'll repeat that again a couple times and again
with a couple moore dogs and then we'll be
ready to start with the first dog again for the off
lead introduction and you're DONE.
Oooops! PROBLEMO. My arithmetic sez we're gonna
need a couple moore days to work this introduction
business till the aggression is thouroghly and permenantely
extinguished. If we break our Contract,
I'm err, shall we say OUTTA HERE FOREVER?
Of course I could handle this a lot faster in person
myself cause I can control you and your dog to insure
the result, so nobody's got to do nothin noHOWE,
but speak when I ask, and hush as I speak and relish
each word like candy you'd eat, and jump when I say,
ask HOWE HIGH and salute, and tout tributes to
Jerry's manual whenever you open your mouth...
That's all. Oh, and one other thing... I hope you don't
faint at the sight of blood. WE got to sign a contract.
HOWE MUCH do you want this dog to turn out
PERFECT in about two weeks? I'm willing to...shall
we say STAKE my ahahahahahaaaa, life on it???
BWWWWAHAHAHAAAA!!!
> and...
And NUTHIN. I REBUKE YOU IN THE NAME
OF SATAN, DOG LOVER!!!
You'll do as I say and dance when I speak...and sing
for your breakfast and beg for your treat ...I'll stop at
at nuthin to save your dog's life, include sell the souls
of my dog and my wife, to prove there's no way to make
a dog lover right. I'll go with The Devil to save our dog's
lives, I'll fight tooth and nail with guns and with knives,
I'm droppin the hammer on dog trainer's careers,
and takin their eye teeth along with their rears. They
been jerkin and chokin the life outta dogs and now I
got them all by their balls in my jaws...
Now go ahead and pinch my ears..., or just
make me laugh.
I just told you we figured out your dog's problem.
> snarls toward me!
Big deal. She won't do that noMOORE once
you learn to handle her like any of my students.
> This has completely destroyed the trust
What trust? The trust established with your
choke collar and corrections?
Don't worry about a thing. WE got a
CONTRACT. Remember?
> we were building over the past month.
BWWWWAJJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAAAAA!!!
Got me laughin in Spanish and I don't even speak
Spanish.
> 3. She deals with visitors,
Deals? Sounds tentative. She's just a little shy. Don't
worry about it. I'm the only game in town. I got the deal
and Jerry don't make no deals... Well not no moore,
since I'm temporarily HOWETA... mmm, currency.
Jerry don't compromise with dog lovers who prefer to
hurt and kill dogs than spend a couple hours trying to show the
dog HOWE to live instead of forcing IT to
choose the degree of pain it prefers to tolerate in
between spurts of life, anxiety, and repression.
> but is very anxious around people she doesn't know.
Shy. The anxiety is a result of punishment for being
aggressive cause she's shy, or maybe just from back
when a puppy jumpin up onto a guest and gettin kneed
in the chest or toes stepped on or alphaphalpha rolled
and growled into their throat pr just SCRUFF SHAKE
and screamed NO for 5 seconds or chin CHUKED and
bit on the ears till they piss themselves or jerked and
choked on a pronged spiked pinch choke collar or
burned with a medical grade static like stimulation device
or containment system like our dog lovers at k9 web and
cindy "don't let the dog SCREAM" mooron recommend TO ENHANCE THE
BOND between 'trainer' and dog.
Our traditional training methods are what's making
your dog turn on you for hurting and scaring her during
her meetings with other dogs. Our pal lying "I LOVE
KOEHLER" lynn and janet boss recommend pronged
spiked pinch choke and shock and citronella collars
for training this kind of dog... and they'd rather not put
IT through all that when there's SO MANY dogs that
are deserving of their HELP. And then they'll deny
it, despite it's archived FOREVER.
You see where WE're goin with all this? WATCH.
> At first she would scream if a stranger petted
> her with 2 hands.
I'd probably come real close to dropping the
hammer on them myself. My dogs will bite
you if a stranger meeting us put their hands
on us in a restraining manner. We don't like that.
Trust me. Strangers touching us means we got
to run and find an adult or a policeman. RIGHT?
Either that or...
> I just don't trust her around anyone yet.
Me too. I never trust a dog. I only trust my training methods and
then we don't got to worry about what
the heel the dog cares... who the heel's the
goddamned trainer, you or the dog?
THE DOG!
You got to TRAIN YOURSELF to reflex to his
needs properly and then he'll reflex to his natural
instinct and be able to use his dog skills as part
of your family pack, equally with you and the other
family members.
Every thing you've been taught about handling your dog
is DEAD WRONG and your dog is prima facia evidence
in Jerry's Giiihhhaaad against the dog behavior industry
for bringing us every dog behavior problem we've got.
> 4. She lunged at my sisters 2 year old
$#!T! You're gonna try and make this hard for
me aren't ya, pullin the fear/guilt double high

Duh-Oh! Spooooookey!!!
BWWWAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!
> I really really like this dog,
THAT'S GREAT! I do too. I like all dogs on general principle and
individual dogs on merit and don't like
nobody no moore than me...and mine. You got your
copy of The Contract?
Don't worry about nuthin. Me an mine are
comin through this alive... sort of, in a sense.
> when she is calm and able to relax.
Vs what? I would like to know when she's not
calm and able to relax... tell us what she's doin.
THOSE are the anxiety relief mechanisms WE
need to deal with so I can fulfill OUR Contract
and... finish you off, and that little dog too!

Yeah, as a matter of fact we got EXPERTS
here. Let me INTRODUCE you around?
> Any ideas out there?
Yeah. Our dog lovers were just on their way to
another forum. Weren't you, dog lovers?
We'll introduce our new found friends later.
Right now our OP's got some studying to do
before she has an accident cause she won't
know HOWE to handle her lead to stop
triggering her dog to pull if she's wastin
time with dog abusers who jerk and choke
dogs.
That's moore then half of what gets IT angry.
Now if this sounds too unbelievable I'll just up the ante.

Hello
I have two mungrel females; the breeds exactly
are Blue Heeler (spots) x Kelpi (dominant genes)
x American Pitbull (behavioural) x Pug (don't laugh!).
They are gentle loving dogs when I'm at home
with them, and they are friendly with unknown
people. They are sisters. One is obviously dominant
over the other, and I don't have a problem with that,
however;
Their behaviour is very odd. Some days they
are very good whilst I'm walking them, some
days they are not. They are 3 years old and
have only been walking for about 12 months
because my mom didn't walk them and now
I'm home so I walk them for about an hour
and half every afternoon. I take them to the
park where they chase birds and swim in the lake.
This is my problem :
The less-dominant dog viscously barks at
every other dog we walk past; I have tried
using a stick and giving her a tap when
she does it, and treating her with treats
when she doesn't, using a choke chain,
a muzzle and a thing that sprays stuff
in her mouth when she barks.
She won't stop! Does anyone know how I can stop her? ]
Also, the more-dominant dog seems to know
this is WRONG, when the other dog barks,
she doesn't bark, but she nips at the other
dog as if telling her to cut it out, and then
the barking one attacks the more-dominant
one and they fight on the leash... it is
quite disturbing to the people walking past.
And also the more-dominant one is okay around other
dogs... SOMETIMES... sometimes she completely ignores
them, and yet other times she will attack them, like yesterday.
The less dominant one I must keep on a
leash if a person brings there dog to the park.
How do I stop them attacking other dogs?
I have tried all the methods I have used
above for 10 months every afternoon.
Is it just a pack-behaviour thing?
It can really be quite embarrassing when your
dogs attack some old lady's or little girl's dog.
They are good dogs, when at home or when
there are no other dogs around. Today there
were hundreds of sparrows flying around the
park and they were chasing them and jumping
up trying to catch them for more than 90 minutes
(They went straight to bed when I bought them home!).
Can anyone help me? Email me at my emails
address, ali...@wasp.net.au coz this list is
tooo crowded.
Thanks,
Nevyn

I wish I had the answer, Gloria! I have an 8 year old yellow lab who
was neutered at 9 months, and he is still Mr. Hormones!
Yesterday in the park we met up with a gorgeous reddish-brown and tan
mixed female (part lab, weim?, something with pricked ears?). She was
spayed and a year old. After the obligatory sniffs, she started to try
to entice him to play and body-slammed him a couple of times. He
started to try to hump the little flirt - and not just the sideways air
humps that he tries on our GSD - he was grabbing her around the waist.
I yanked him off and put him in a sit - several times. But this
shameless little hussy kept backing up to him with her tail in sideways
position - an invitation if I've ever seen one!
Luckily, his owner thought this was all hilarious... but we sure don't
know what to do about Mr. Hormones' behavior!

BWEEEEEEEEEEEAAAHAHAHAHHAHAAA!!!
I adopted JJ from Animal Care and Control, and he was neutered about 3 weeks
ago, a day before I got him. I think that's part of the problem, he's still
feeling his "oats". It has tapered significantly around the house. The problem
now is taking him to the park. I hate it when he starts humping the other dogs,
especially the small ones. Most of the other dogs "tell him off", but he takes
it as a game and goes back. I'm sure it will stop as he matures, I just thought
someone would have a suggestion for now when I take him to the park. Thanks,
Perry.

done laundry for WEEKS!" Shortly after that, I spotted the cat.
Further investigation revealed that the damned cat had been
sh*tting in my SHOES. Not Sarah's shoes. MINE.
Not too smart of that cat, particularly since I'm allergic and he
was treading on thin ice in that domain already. He clinched it
a couple of days later when I was carrying him out of the bedroom
(now forbidden territory), and the dog (big white Shepherd mix)
came trotting around the corner. Cat freaked, clawed and bit me.
Sorry, but that kitty had to go to the animal shelter the next
day. (I would have had the same reaction if the dog had bit me.)

Clearly punishing your dog isn't working. And probably
never will. So I'd suggest you try a different tactic. You
don't have to yell and hit in order to get your dog to behave
well. But you may have to be a little more creative.
You've gotten him afraid of you+cushion, but not afraid of
cushion. So remove the cushion, so that the temptation is
no longer there, until you can get other aspects of his behavior
working with you. Does he have "interesting" toys to keep him
occupied, like a Kong stuffed with peanut butter, or a Hava-Ball
filled with treats for him to extract?
If your dog is only "good" when you're "not his friend"
it sound like you've managed to teach him to be afraid
of you.
If he's peeing when you're shouting, he's afraid of you.
That's submissive peeing. Is that the relationship you
want with your dog?
How much time do you spend together? How much
exercise do you give him? How many hours a day is
he alone? It sounds to me like he may be bored;
our GSD was pretty destructive at that age until we
rearranged our schedule and spent more time playing
and exercising her.
Have you tried obedience training? Did you take your
dog to any classes to train both you and the dog?
Having an ongoing program of *positive* (no punishment)
training with your dog might go a long ways in improving
his behavior and your relationship with him.
There are a lot of good books on training your dog out
there. I used and like Brian Kilcommons' "Good Owners,
Great Dogs", but there are others that are more recent
and that emphasize clicker training.
I'm not a dog trainer, so others will be along with
more specific suggestions for you.

Hi, Karlee -
Looks like your thread got hijacked :-(
I don't have a lot to contribute, except to say that some dogs
don't seem to have the play drive that others do. My male
chihuahua, Gordo, played with his sister as a puppy, but wouldn't
play with us, except to fetch. He's very submissive, and even
the most gentle approaches to play got him cowering. He and his
sister still play now and then (at age 12), but only if they
think no one is watching them. Weird. He does like to chew on
rawhide, however.
Is your dog's regular food kibble or soft food? If you could
induce her to eat a bit of kibble, maybe that would be a start on
the teeth problem.
She sounds like a sweetie!

Hello Gloria,
there is no shame in using medication for mental problems.
in fact, a large proportion of our "regulars" have serious

shelly is more than a little bit beyond the pale
Shelly has OCD, and maybe she's just a little
obsessive about measuring out extra tiny and
discrete portions with a tiny measuring
cup, or counting out pieces of green bean or
pumpkin that she gives her dogs when they give
her the "I'm Starving" routine. When grandma
tried to give Hattie a snack, shelly probably
went apeshit, because it was in violation of
her Obsessive need to oversee every tiny
calorie that goes into her widdle precious'

shelly's a special case, a special kind of

California Mormon Mom come Kibologist Paula
Makes Dog Newsgroup Mental Illness History
OUR FIRST CRAZY MORMON
Paula is a divorced Mormon Mom who dabbles freely
in Kibology, leaving herself at risk for being
Smite into a pile of rubble by either an angry,
vengeful God or worse yet, a Kibo unglued.
As a California based youth counselor, Paula
helps children deal with physical & emotional
problems while dealing with mental problems of
her own. Particularly chronic depression for
which she is drugged.
Paula has a long history of questioning her
faith, questioning her mother and worrying about
whether or not she'll be excommunicated for the
thoughts in her head. With good reason, after
spending so much time fraternizing with free
thinking, blaspheming Kibologists.
At one point, when Paula was suffering from a
heavy bout of depression, and in violation of
Mormonology and her mother's own advice, she
eschewed prayer and instead enlisted the heelp of
Harco Industries own twillis, who cruelly

Oh, honey! Pringles are never an adequate defense
against depression. It takes large amounts of premium
ice cream, at the very least.
THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH
BUT ZOLOFT IS TOO MUCH
BETTER FAT THAN DEAD
Also, zoloft is not a good anti-depressant because it
makes you fat. Or so an acquaintance of mine told me.
I refrained from pointing out to her that being fat
was not exactly a bad trade-off if you stopped being
suicidal in so many words.
SERIOUSLY, CHRONIC DEPRESSION IS LIKE THIS
Seriously, chronic depression is all about feeling
like shit and not knowing why. If there were a reason,
it would be "the blues" or something equally not quite
fuzzy but not really serious sounding.
YOU KNOW, LIKE FEMALE TROUBLE
THAT'S WHERE GOOD DRUGS COME IN

You know, like "female trouble." This is where good
drugs come in. Unless you listen to my mom, who
thinks that you should be able to pray and read your

enjoyment of living. The rest of us wish she would
It seems that Paula's mom tries to make her feel bad for

tried to make Kelly aka Culprit feel bad about her mental

not only shut up about how to treat our issues but
also stay on some good meds herself.
DRUGS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN PRAYERS OR PRINGLES
BUT FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, DRUGS WORK BETTER
Anyway, I have to say the good drugs route works much
better and takes less time, too. It's more expensive
than praying and pringles, but it's worth it. Get
thee to a good psychiatrist. If you can find a good
therapist, that helps, too.
DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP
Do not in any way, shape or form beat up on yourself
for your depression making no sense or not being made
worse by commercials, however. That is an order.

instead.

BREAKING MENTAL ILLNESS NEWS
DATELINE: AUGUST 1, 2004
Tara O. aka, Tee is an Anorexia Survivor
UNTIL YOU'VE LIVED WITH THIS DISORDER
YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW DEVASTATING
Tara O. aka Tee, is in many ways a typical suburban
South Carolinian soccer mom. Upon casual inspection,
nothing appears to be amiss. Tara, aka Tee spends her
free time surfing the internet and is a big fan of the
WB's "Gilmore Girls." Tara is also a passionate member
of the Carolina Boxer Rescue network. The only sign of
controversy or untowardness is that Tara's own Boxer
Summer was suddently put to sleep in October 2001,
despite several offers from an Orlando, FL dog expert
(Jerry Howe) to adopt her, claiming he could easily
cure Summer's behavioral problems.
Looking at Tara today, you'd never know that when she
was a teen, she suffered for five years with the
debilitating mental disorder, known as anorexia.
Tara is now a healthy weighted (some would say
plump) mom in her thirties, but during her teens
Tara O. (along with her Bulimic Friend), looked like
a skeleton.
like so many of the mentally ill before her, Tara O.
is coming forward because she wants to educate those
who come after her. The message Tara is sending is
clear. Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of.
"We don't have to hide any longer!" she seems to be
saying.
Tara O. aka, Tee attributes her anorexia to
a lack of self esteem, which sprung from peer
pressure and an upbringing that could have been
more nurturing.
Determined that the same fate not befall her daughter
Amie, and out of a belief that no child should have to
follow the same path of self destruction and starvation,
Tara, in graphic and sometimes excruciating detail
relives the drama of how she was bowed and broken by,
but ultimately came back to beat anorexia.
YOU GO (gilmore) Girl!
Tara and Amie's harrowing saga (below) is a cautionary
tale and a must read for all of those, who care deeply
about the future of young girls in America. This is an
issue that affects both young and old, black and white,
male and female all across America.
Tara is doing everything in her power, including
medicating her daughter Amie with Ritalin, so that Amie
does not have to feel the sting of self esteem issues,
brought on by peer pressure courtesy of the cliques of
marauding "mean girls" who prey on young females
struggling to find their way and their indentity during
the precarious and perilous passage from adolescence
to young adulthood. We can only be thankful that Tara
prevailed and lived to tell her story.
We wish Tara O and her daughter Amie nothing but success
in overcoming mental illness and mental disorders. Tara
and Amie, you are an inspiration to us all!
I BATTLED ANOREXIA FOR MOST OF MY TEEN YEARS
WE BOTH LOOKED STICK THIN
Well if you had one and you did it to gain attention
then quite frankly you'd be the first person I have
ever heard of taking that approach. I battled anorexia
for most of my teen years and had a very good
acquaintance who was bulimic and almost died. We both
looked stick thin but could cover the circles around
our eyes with makeup and the colorless, chapped lips
with lipstick. How often did any of us see Diana out
in public during this time with no makeup on as well
as up-close & personal?

UNTIL YOU'VE LIVED WITH THIS DISORDER
YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW DEVASTATING
IT'S NOT LIKE SLITTING YOUR WRISTS
Until you've lived with an eating disorder, you cannot
understand how devastating they can be or what goes on
in the person's head during the time. Book smarts are
all good and well but there is never just one
cut-and-dried reason for becoming bulimic or anorexic.
Your whole theory is shot simply by the fact that the
vast majority of bulimics and anorexics go out of their
way to HIDE their problems. They do not want attention
drawn to themselves. Its not like slitting your wrists
in the wrong direction so that people will know you want
or need help.

a byproduct of someone having too little
self-esteem. There are other reasons but none
that cause bulimia as often as lack of
self-esteem from what I have learned.

CHRIS JUNG on the
PROZE and CONS of PROZAC
I have to comment here. Anti-depressants such
as Prozac do not have any "drugging" effect. It
doesn't tranquilize, make euphoric, or cause
any sort of change in behavior except for
bringing the brain imbalances back to normal
and thus reducing depression. I take Prozac and
the difference between being on Prozac and not
is very subtle. I still feel everything (happy,
sad, nervous, mad) but I'm just not as
unreasonably bummed about it.

MENTAL ILLNESS IN RPD*
Mental illness is a public issue in the dog newsgroups.
People are always running around calling other people
mentally ill and diagnosing their illnesses. I think
it's only fair that we have an accurate list of who
is and who isn't mentally ill, so that we can avoid
any misunderstandings and promote group harmony.
This list is strictly for group harmony purposes.

Breaking Mental Illness News, JUNE 2004!
HATTIE @ 47 lbs!
Hattie, a boxer owned by shelly couvrette is
now down to 47 pounds. Couvrette, a librarian
at Indiana U. who suffers from obsessive/
compulsive disorder (OCD), was told by three
different Veterinarians that Hattie was "way
too skinny" when Hattie weighed 53 lbs.
Undeterred by that, and the reactions from
family and strangers on the street, shelly
continued shopping for vets and cutting
calories until Hattie,a chronic counter
surfer at age 5 now weighs just 47 lbs!
shelly finds all the symptoms of a starving
dog searching for nutrients to be
entertaining. Couvrette has developed a unique
technique to fool dogs who are having
pangs of starvation. She feeds them
green beans and canned pumpkin, so there
will be some "filler" in their stomachs
when they give her the "I'm Starving--no,
really" routine.
shelly is not nearly as obsessed with her
own weight, and has never been told by a
medical professional that she is "way too
skinny." If so, that medical professional
would be end up on this crazy person list
as well.

hattie show, page down to the bottom of

LEAH ditches Effexor for Zyban.
Leah Roberts, a professional dog

her life over to Jesus, has graduated
from the ranks of PetSmart Trainers and
has signed on with a progressive agility
and family pet focused Dog Training outfit
Canine Action based in Orlando, Fl.

As part of the move, Leah has switched
mental medications from from Effexor to
Zyban in an attempt to quit smoking. As a
result, she has much more energy, which
has allowed her to pass a colonoscopy exam
with flying colors.
Said Roberts:
"I'm wondering if it was the
med [effexor] and not the CFS that was
affecting me so badly."
Leah continues to improve her life and is
considering buying herself a motorcycle for
her 50th birthday later this year. Leah is
almost to the point where we can remove her
from the crazy person list. But not yet.
We wish her continued success in becoming
crazy-free.

Tara O. aka Tee

CHRIS JUNG on the
PROZE and CONS of PROZAC
I have to comment here. Anti-depressants such
as Prozac do not have any "drugging" effect. It
doesn't tranquilize, make euphoric, or cause
any sort of change in behavior except for
bringing the brain imbalances back to normal
and thus reducing depression. I take Prozac and
the difference between being on Prozac and not
is very subtle. I still feel everything (happy,
sad, nervous, mad) but I'm just not as
unreasonably bummed about it.

Jim is currently on Effexor which he takes
because of his depression/mental problems.
Like many of our mental cases, Jim has had

from going kuckoo!! kuckoooo!!! or getting
the "brain shivers"

"I'm on 375 mg/day and it has worked
wonders for me. The only down side is
that my blood pressure has elevated

Good luck!

time."
Jim
"After several years on Effexor IR, my

<YOUR NAME GOES HERE>
(please proudly add your name and the drugs/disorders specific to you,
if you are also mentally ill). If we all come forward, we can help
each other with our problems. Remember, mental illness is nothing to
be ashamed of. It's not your fault if you have a defective brain which
may cause you to act like an extreme hypocrite and/or idiot and/or
robot without your being aware of it).
Also, please notify us if you are *not* mentally ill, and have been
added to this by mistake, so we can make our corrections and remove
you from the crazy person list.

Michael Further Explains The Mental Illness List
==========================================
In the past, before Michael fixed things, this was a
way to shut people up and discredit people. Calling
them mentally ill. shelly told us not to even talk
to the mentally ill.
But it turned out most of the people doing the
accusing and finger pointing and "you better take
your meds" etc... were mentally ill themselves.
That's a huge story, and I SCOOPED IT.
MaryBeth for instance, was constantly telling
people to take their meds. Once I started to
do a little research, the floodgates opened
and an amazing story unfolded.

Gotcha, thanks. I just banned him from emailing me too. Sheesh. Why is it that
every news group has to have at least one troll? Is it in the contract? LOL

It can take a couple-three months for the hormones to
completely leave his system after neutering, is what I
understand.

A 6 foot lead.
Really, you have to have better control over your dog - no
tricks involved, just training.

Unfortunately, I believe you are correct. LOL I'm certainly going to stick with
the little fellow. He's very playful and very funny. I've had Boston Terriers
since I was 15 and they're sooo funny. Pugs are funny also. I'm constantly
being entertained by them. Thank you for responding.
