Worm medication - Pill or Vaccine?

My cats get (all three) get worms several times a year. My old vet
used to give us pills for them, since we'd at one time had 8 cats and
got so accustomed to worming them, we didnt even have to take them in
to see him. The pills seemed to work fine.

I've since moved, and my new vet insists that pills dont work
effectively. He prefers to give them shots, two of them three weeks
apart. I dont know what to think. It costs me a lot more money to
bring them in to see him, not to mention the stress on the cats.

Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do?
