My kitten had an all black nose when I got her at 9 weeks. She's just over
3 months now and her nose has started turning pink. I heard that plastic
dishes do this, so I changed her dishes to glass, but no change. Is this
natural?
Thanks in advance!

Dear Lisa,

Your kitten is going to be growing a lot in the next few months and what you
are experiencing right now is just some changes in pigmentation and
coloring. I don't know what color your cat's coat is but you be noticing
some changes in it as well. All this is normal and healthy. The only thing
to be concerned about is if your cat is a purebred, this might be showing
some questionable qualities in the blood line and if I were you I would
contact the breeder from which you attained the kitten. If your cat is a
mixed breed then you are doing fine and have nothing to worry about.

Troi is approx 3 years old and the last few months she has been developing small
spots of dark color on her lips and gums. Another cat I knew, Krishna, got spots
too and nothing bad has happened to him. Humans get skin color/hair changes as we
age, most of the time it's normal. Like a moron I forgot to ask the vet about it
when I took her and Felix to the vet (DOH!) but they're both going back soon for
minor dental cleaning and I'll ask him then. Troi has also had a problem with
what I call BNREB Syndrome, Big Nasty Runny Eye Boogers. I did tell the vet that
and he said since it's been going on for months now it is probably not something
dangerous like clogged tears ducts, Troi may have an allergy to something like dust,
smoke, etc. He said to keep doing what I'm doing, cleaning her eye boogers with a
soft damp cloth, but to also use saline solution.
