Collective Noun For Kittens - Suggestions Welcome

A ??? OF KITTENS

A charm of goldfinches ... an unkindness of ravens ... a clowder (clutter)
of cats ... a kindle of kittens. A kindle of kittens?
Why not a chorus of kittens? Anyone who has to fix breakfast for litters
of fostered kittens will know exactly what I mean. Or then again, once
the plate of grub is presented you end up with a squabble of kittens all
jockeying for pole position around or in their Kitten Whiskas.
Let the little charmers out of their pen while you clean it and you
immediately have a catastrophe of kittens all hell-bent on demolishing
your soft-furnishings in the shortest possible time. You can't help but
laugh at their antics though, never mind that one of them has just wee-ed
in the video recorder. Five fat furry forms tumbling about the room like
windblown autumn leaves has to be a carnival of kittens.
The moment you round them all up again and pack them off to bed you find
yourself in possession of a whimper of kittens, all madly protesting that
life on the curtain rail is far more fun. Still, they soon transform
themselves into a cuddle of kittens as they curl up into a warm purry heap
and recharge their little kitten batteries for tomorrow.

I'd opt for clowder. It's a real word, found in several prominent
dictionaries (even Mrs. Burnes') and it's definition covers everything from
day-of-birth to grey-muzzled old friends. It's from whence ClowderMeister
and ClowderMistress get their titles.

Clowder (clutter) may be the official word - it's *fun* and descriptive
words (specific to kittens) I'm after! Some of them have been pretty
amusing and very apt.

Well maybe this is too obvious, or is in a post I haven't read yet. Remembering
the sounds coming from our garage weeks after a stray momcat had five fuzzy
black kittens with big green/blue eyes in it....a "crash" of kittens (and that
was *after* my parents and I had "kitten proofed" the garage:>).... But
oh, were they ever cute...and one of them was my friend for 19 years.......
Or- a cacaphony, a boil (what they looked like when they came swarming out
of the garage, around the corner, and up the maple tree........), whirlwind,
tempest..... Hmmmm, I think I'm sensing a pattern here....:>)

How about a climb of kittens (up the curtains, up your legs etc), a
chase of kittens (round and round the furniture), a purr of kittens
(taking milk from mum), a yawn of (sleepy) kittens, a collapse of
(tired) kittens, a wreckage of kittens...?

I think that an "explosion" of kittens fits well when opening the door to
their room. Also a "business" of kittens fits when they are all doing
various things as they explore their world. For that matter an "exploration"
of kittens sounds good too. Another fit: "squadron" of kittens when they
are in "rocket kitty" mode.

we're after fun and descriptive terms purely for kittens!
