the house and jump up to kiss your face when you say "kissie" It's the
damndest thing. What a lover cat.

My kitten Baylee will put one paw on either side of my mouth and give me
kisses. It was adorable at first but now it's annoying especially when
she wakes me up at 4:00 in the morning. How do I break her of this? I
end up having to put her down but she runs right back for another lick.
HELP! :-)

My kitten (named Precious because everyone keeps saying that when they
see her) will purr, then come up to my face and with paws on either side
of my mouth, she'll kiss me for a while---it's adorable. Luckily she
reserves this for when I'm awake too.

Banshee shoves his nose in my face and slobers. I hate it. He
also likes licking my face, which I don't mind as much except
when he licks the make-up off my eyes and when he tries licking
my lips. The way I see it, the only living creatures whose mouth
may touch mine is my boyfriend. But it is kinda cute, I must
admit.

Two of my cats will come up to me (while I'm awake *or* asleep) and
lick my lips and touch noses. :)

With cats, it's cute... with dogs, um... :-P

Both my cats, Melody and Harmony, show affection in this way. Melody will
cheerfully lick my face, my hand, or whatever she can reach (my SHINS
sometimes, when I'm wearing a skirt). Harmony tends to lick only my hand
or my arm, not my face. However, Harmony will also "rub foreheads" with me.

It was this trait that caught my attention in both of their cases when I
was looking to adopt two kittens from the local animal refuge. After 9
months of missing my first cat, the late, much-loved and much-lamented
Misty, I knew it was time for me to adopt again; I went to the animal
shelter in search of two kittens that I could raise together. Naturally,
when I got there I wanted to take ALL the cats home :) , but since that
was impossible I tried to focus on distinctive features of each kitty, so
that I could at least attempt to make a choice. When I'd met all the cats,
the two that stood out most for me were the two that had been licking my
hands as I held them. I'd found my cats! Adoption procedures were
initiated, and here we all are today. They're both 5 years old, and they
STILL lick to show affection; they never outgrew it. BTW, Melody and
Harmony are not from the same litter - Melody is two weeks older. I've
also wondered how common this tendency is (or isn't) for cats to behave
this way, so thanks for the opportunity to try and find out!

My cat, Bridhe, always greets me with a kiss whenever I come home. As soon
as she knows it's me, she comes running up meowing and purring. I pick her
up
(she loves to be held), and she places her paws on my forehead and kisses me,
and snots on me, and drools on me...it can get messy...

Years ago I adopted a 9 year old persian from the shelter. On the night
I brought him home, the series premiere of the new "Dark Shadows" came
on.

While bonding with the cat. He started licking my face, nose, and got
down to my neck. The next thing I know I'm Yelping when he bit me on the
neck! I looked down at him and said, "Barnabas, your name is Barnabas.
We called him boo boo for short.

Ground rules had to be made for visitors. Do not let the cat kiss you on
the face (except the nose) or neck as he will eventually bite. Hands
were okay as well.

We have a Gray cat that lived in the woods behind our house for several
years before he came to live in the house with us. Now he won't go out-
"been there-done that-". He is a vigorous head bumper and a avid kiss-
licker. He will "kiss" most any part of the body, usually when you are
not expecting it. He would also be willing to "shampoo" your hair and he
can get it quite wet actually...ICK! We, too, have wondered how many
kissers there are around.

Corcky is always in the same room I'm in and never more than an arms

Our cat, Morgan, frequently kisses. She has trained us to let her
down by licking the tip of our noses. The best kiss happened to my
husband. He was just waking up and Morgan was hovering around his
head. She went to kiss him and made tongue-to-tongue contact. Russ
said that was a bit too intimate for him, besides - its not a real
comfy. ;)

"Kissing" is a common way for cats to greet cats (and the people they
love). In with 'wild' you will often see two familiar cats touch noses.

My kitty, Jo-Jo, is half lilac point siamese/half himalayan. When he was
a kitten (about3 months old), he used to climb up the comforter from the
floor onto the bed and sleep next to my ear. In the morning before I
awoke, he would always start sucking on my earlobe. What a weird feeling.
Fortunately, he has long since grown out of this fetish. I love my kitty lots

Louise kisses, but only if she's in a very, very good mood. Is she is

me on the nose. It makes me feel SO special =). This because she's
quite a moody kitty.

Our new baby kittens both kiss. They're also real shoulder-sitters -- like
to curl up right under your ears and purr.

THe one kitty, Anath, really likes my hair (I have very long hair). She
tends to burrow into it wherever possible, and can be hard to extract from
my ponytail. She licks my hair, too, which cracks me up -- perhaps she
figures she is grooming me.

I don't think I've ever had a cat that didn't rub noses and kiss, though...

My cat Claus insists on "grooming" us. He likes to lick our faces for
several minutes, which can get a little rough. He prefers licking us
on the forehead and eyebrows, but he'll also lick a nose if he can't
reach anywhere else. If I try to lift my head before he's finished,
he'll put his paw on top of my head to make me stay.

Claus sometimes licks Spot, our other cat, but prefers to lick us. Spot

Well, it's not quite a kiss, but when I'm lying in bed with the little
thing (new kitten) convinced that snuggling RIGHT UP ON MY MOUTH is the
way to communicate how much she loves me, capping it off my laying her
little head on my nose (thereby insuring that I can't BREATHE), it's not
a kiss, but it's definitely something.

And she does kiss when I'm awake. Of course, if I've just eaten some
ice cream, it helps.

Take care,

Okay, this isn't really a kiss, but here goes...
One of my cats, Chiclet, who is a female brown/orange tortoise shell, loves to
greet me when I've been gone. I put my face down towards hers and she rubs
all over me. She likes to rub her cold wet nose on my face (kisses) until she
gets so excited that she starts head butting me in the face and sticking her
nose right into mine!! Yeah, sounds gross, I know. It's as if she's trying
to stick her head into my nose (no, I don't have a large nose/nostrils). It's
pretty cute and I think it's just because she gets so excited that she goes a

My kittens kiss me too. Last night after I had some milk and I think she
could smell it on my lips so she licked my lips. She usually just kisses
me when I pick her up. Steph

Yes, when our oldest cat was a kitten she'd run up to people, sit on their
lap, and give them a "kiss".

My cat, Chili, gives me kisses on the nose all the time and she is an
adult now. She will not do this to anyone else. She greets me with a
kiss, kisses me when she wants to be fed, or just because...Occasionally
she will nip my nose, and she has bitten my cheek too. I personally think
this is an oral fixation.

My kitten Jules loves to kiss people. She especially likes to sit on
your shoulder and nuzzle your ear (and purr VERY loudly). Her brother
Vincent just stares at her like she's a fool and nibbles on a toe or
two.

My friend's cat Cynthia is a real kisser. I think I am the one who
taught her this. She has a *very* cute mouth for a kitty (I'm really not
a weirdo--this isn't some strange fixation or anything--HONEST!). Anyway,
while she was still a little kitty I would give her a little kiss on
her mouth. After a while she just kind of took it as the natural way to
greet her "loved ones", to my friends chagrine, actually. :) She now
comes up to us and plants a kiss right on our lips! This isn't a licking
thing, it's like a real kiss.

Pete, our big friendly tom, wakes me up by kissing me all over my face.
It's so sweet, I hardly notice his horrible kitty-breath.

My cat Elijah does this too. Only to me though, and only if I make a
kiss/pucker up sound. Cats greet their mommies by rubbing faces with them to
mingle their scents. I guess Eli figures I'm his mom. BTW he also does that
licking thing. He's an affectionate guy.

Yes, my cat Sneakers kisses people. She likes to wait until I go to
bed, then sits on my chest and licks my face clean. She also "dances"
with my brother and gives him kisses so he'll leave her alone. Her
kitten, Boots, is starting to do this also.

What I've always called kissing in Miko's case was touching the nose or
the lips with her wet nose. She stretches her neck to reach out, but
doesn't always kiss, just as you pout your lips she pulls back. What she
seems to like more is to be kissed. She pushes her head against your lips
time and time again, and purrs very happily.

I have a wee tiny boy named Tikibooboo (about 7 weeks old) who will climb
all the way up my jeans and then up my t-shirt for kisses. No doubt about
it - Tiki is a kissing fool!!

Our little red tabby will lay in my arms as a human child would,
reaches up with her tiny paw to touch my cheek, and then pulls her
head up to KISS my chin and nose.....it is sooo loving when they
give us such gifts....easy to over look the kitty breath.

I also let my cats lick off of my ice cream so I guess kitty breath
isn't sooo bad.....

My cat, Noodles, doesn't actually KISS you, but he'll try to crawl
up my leg in the mornings, and when I pick him up, his arms will go
around my neck (one on each side) and he'll start to nuzzle my
neck and ears! He'll do this just about every time you pick him up.
I've got a new kitten that has started to climb up on my chest and
neck in the mornings and try to nuzzle my neck. I figure they're
looking for a nipple, cause they "knead" their biscuits while they're
nuzzling and purring the whole time. It's really pretty cool.

I'm not too sure if this is kissing, but my new kitten P.J.(Who is now 5
months old), is the most cuddly cat I have ever seen. She comes when
called(Like a dog), which I find really neat. But also, if you are lying
down or sitting she will climb onto your chest and bring her face right up to
yours. First she gives what appears to be a wet kiss with her nose, but then
she will lick your chin, mouth and nose as if cleaning your face. She also
will lick your hands and then try to force her head under your hand as if she
wants you to clean her. And she purrs all the while. It's really cute
actually, but really annoying when you are trying to fall asleep. Anyone
know why my cat does these things?
