Hi there!!!
Teddy, my beautiful 7 month old has decided in the past few weeks that he
wants me up at 5 am :( Does anyone else have this problem? At around 5
'every' morning, he jumps up on my pillow and starts to lick my face and
head. Although I find this show affection very sweet, I need my sleep.
Teddy's brother Tigger, also 7 months, never does this and Jess, my 12-yr
old tortie is quite content with sleeping next to me.

My cats wake me up every morning too. The only solution
I have is to get up and feed the cats and go back to sleep.
Even though I leave a lot of dry food for them before going
to bed, they always want canned food early in the morning.

Hi Ann. Sorry, I have no advice on how to stop Teddy from licking your face. My only advice is "enjoy it" as some day when Teddy is gone, this will be one of your beautiful memories. He is young and may grow out of it. In the meantime, you can probably get real good at ignoring him and going back to sleep!

Hi, Ann :-)

Bosco, my sweet little imp, used to pull this trick on me all the time as
well, and I used to fight the urge to get up and feed her because I didn't
want her to think that she was "training" me.

Now, I hold back about 1/2 of the wet food I used to feed her at 7 P.M.,
and feed it to her at about 11 P.M. (it works out to about 1/4 can at 7
P.M., and 1/4 can at 11 P.M.). Of course, I also leave her dry food out
for a free feed around the clock.

This way, it's not so long between wet food feedings for her, and she
(usually) will stay asleep curled up next to me until 8 A.M.

Hope that was helpful - good luck!

Nina

A suggestion:

Here I simply close the door of my room...

Put it in a cage before you go to bed.

Yep, I'm with June. These things, though trying, are the things that
distinguish our friends. Blackie climbs up on the table beside me, reaches
out with his paw and taps my shoulders, saying "Dad...Dad... I want some
biscuits...Dad...I want us all to get up." God knows I'm tired but I love
him for it.
