How to deal with abusive poster

I AM ANGRY!
I've read the posting of James Leak <JL...@netcom.com>, who is quite
obviously a child who craves attention. He is probably unable to
get 'good' attention, so he posts messages designed to provoke us
cat (animal) lovers into giving him 'negative' attention.
I won't requote his posting cuz it's just too obnoxious. Nor did I
e-mail back to him my feelings, because this only serves his purpose!
But, WHAT CAN WE DO about people like this. I know that there are
too many people like him who don't understand what it means to be
a creature of nature (as we all are) and part of life on this planet.
But most of them don't intrude into rpc ; when they do, then I feel
that I NEED TO DO SOMETHING ! But what? how? where?
Are there channels to go through? a process for turning in abusive
netizens?
Help an angry newbie, please, cuz my ulcer is growing as I type this!

Ignore him. I know it's hard to do so but that kind of troll is designed
_specifically_ to get your attention and get reactions. You were smart
enough to post your objection under a different Subject line and limit it to
r.p.c. which will deny him his attention (unless he decides to visit here
and see if anything happened).
If you respond to their postings you've fulfilled their fondest wish: to get
a reaction out of someone. ANYone. They don't care what kind or how upset it
makes people, they are simply looking to make noise and trouble.
Ignore it.

Cant we cut and paste the message from him and e-mail it as a complaint to
postm...@netcom.com? Do not Internet Providers do something about their
clients who grossly abuse internet privleges?

My second message on this cause it makes me angry too, I did cut and paste
the message and sent it to his postmaster, I dont know if it will do any
good or not but maybe if enough of us do the same they will at least warn
him, I dont know. I know you can do that for all these illegal chain
letters, so Maybe it works for sick harrassment too.

But Real Internet providers have killfiles, which would work even
better for keeping you from seeing what you don't want to see.

There's a very comprehensive guide to dealing with junk e-mail of all
kinds, from sellers to flamers, that I found through Australian Internet
magazine. It's at http://www.ptbo.igs.net/~shawn/junkmail.html. It even
tells you how to track down e-mailers who try to hide their e-mail addy.

I did at one time have an address of where to turn people like this in,
but I can't find it in my bookmarks, now. Maybe someone else has an URL.
