The gestation period is 60 days. The biggest thing you need to consider
before deciding to breed your cat, is your reasons for doing so. If
this is not a show cat, or is not being bred for lineage purposes, it
would be better to get it fixed. The overpopulation problem in the
United States is overwhelming. There are 70,000 puppies and kittens
born every day in this country. Millions are euthanized in shelters
every year, (12.5 million per the ASPCA). There just aren't homes for
them all. Even if you already have homes for future kittens, by not
breeding, you are given kittens already born a chance at a home. We are
into "kitten season" right now so every shelter is being inundated with
calls about unwanted kittens.
I do hope you give the above careful thought before you make your
decision.
