After bring my kitty home from the vet last Friday for his medicated bath
and shots (he has flea allergy) he doesn't leave my side. He sleeps on
my thigh when I watch tv and cuddles nearby every second of the day if I
let him. Do you think he was mistreated at the vets (even they assure me
they take the best of care) or is it that he feels secure that he's with
his master again. I can't figure it out. Let me know if you had a
similar experience. Thanks. Sandee You can also email me at ay...@lafn.org

Left our two cats in a dual cage with vet for 9 days in Fall while we
were out of the country. When we brought them home, we thought they were
seriously ill. Lethargic. Not eating. Dull. Called my nephew (the Vet
who cared for them (arrrrrgh! TED!!!)) and he said that he personally
loved and cuddled and consoled them, but they were depressed from not
being home--prob. not sick. Within 2 days they were back to normal.
Hope yours are by now too. MORAL: Never take cats to vet for boarding.
We will hire cat sitter to come to our home to care/play for/with them
if we EVER go away again. Your cats will be OK I am sure. Just need
time to recover from depression. Mom of Brutus and Fiorella

I think he is just happy to be back with you. My cats occasionally do
this after a return from the vet (particularly overnight visits). I
suspect that if the vet was mistreating your cat, you would see an
angry, defensive, hostile cat rather than the lovey-dovey one you have
now.

Hi Sandee. I doubt your vet mistreated your cat. I mean, your cat may have
FELT pretty mistreated by the whole bath and shots experience, but cats
are never very pleased with being bathed or given shots! My cat Radcliffe
is usually very standoffish, preferring to be in the same room with me
rather than cuddle. But last time he had to go to the vet, the evening he
was home, he crawled right up into my lap while I was using the computer
and fell asleep. I think you're right, that it is a security thing for
them. He gradually returned to "normal" (well, normal for Rad, anyhow!).
Hope this makes you feel better.
