Hi folks.

I have a question about bengal cats. I understand Bengals are
supposed to have spotted bellies, but mine has a classic tuxedo
pattern. (white front paws, white boots on hind legs, white chin, and
a diamond-shaped white patch on the chest) Can he still be a purebred
Bengal? He has all the other characteristics of a Bengal, right down
to the gold-dusting.

I adopted him from a foster home the other day and they have him
listed as a "brown tabby". He has the most gorgeous black on brown
marble swirls with orange trims. I don't care if he's a purebred just
curious. I think he has the cutest little tux!!!

Hm. If he is a Bengal, he is probably a mix or an extremely
badly bred one. The 'glitter' in Bengals is not unique to the breed
-- it came from a Indian street cat used in the early generations. In
fact, many many Bengals don't have glitter at all.
When you say 'all the other characteristics of a Bengal', what
do you mean? Puffy whisker pads and a strong chin? Hind legs
slightly higher than the front? An egg-shaped head with strong
backskull? Is his tail short and thick, are his ears small and
rounded? Spotted bellies are a requirement for the Bengal breed, and
it's not a fault that is really seen anymore. As well, is his pattern
more circular or more horizontally flowing?
Do you have any pictures of him online for us to see?

I would doubt that he is a Bengal, honestly. It is always
possible, but I would say probbaly unlikely. I'd love to see a pic or
two of him though. :)
