I suspect your allergies are seasonal. I too have asthma, and the cat
that lives IN my house, never to go outside and get dusty and pollinated
is the only one that doesn't affect me. Have you changed your cat
litter brand...some of them are awful. Have you changed the cat's feed?
This too can make a difference in their "dander". Has she accidentally
been outside? Maybe she needs a bath. However, this is the time of
year that all persons allergies act up...especially if you are in a
warmer climate that thinks it is still fall, or if you are in colder
climate with your heater constantly running. change your filters
often. consider having your ducts cleaned and your carpeting. So many
things can trigger this...even carpet fresh. I doubt it's the cat.
Look for the other sources.

I forgot one thing, I have trained my cat not to get in my lap, on my
bed, etc. She is very affectionate to the others in my household, but
she knows not to try and luv/rub on me. I am, however, the feeder. And
I have had Angie for 13 years

Mike,
It's been observed that it's usually the cat's dander becoming airborne
, not the hair, that causes allergic reactions (I was extremely
allergic to cats, had shots for years, and eventually lost the most of
the last of it when it came down to, cat sit or keep living in my car,
which was at least a station wagon).

So, a thorough cleaning, vaccuming, and dusting, of your living space
might well help. At more or less the same time, you might invest in a
grooming with some sort of medicated shampoo for the cat.

Thanks!
