Hi,
My friend has a cat that drools and he would like to know if this is
indicative of an illness or behavioral problem. If anyone has
information on this please email me.
Thanks,
Tracey

We have had two cats that initially did a lot of drooling when held or petted.
Now they only drool occasionally, usually when being petted and are pretty
happy.

Karen, a drooling cat means that cat is so damn happy it will do anything
for you... Basically...

Drool = good

Dont worry about it, trust me. (no my cat hasnt soaked the couch yet, but
she is getting close to) I love her so much. Let her drool.

My Callie used to drool all the time when she was purring. I used to
ask her if she needed a dribble cloth because she was so messy. I miss
her drools so much now. I lost her 7/29.

Karen,

My cat drooled occasionally when she was very happy, but in August she
started drooling all the time, uncontrollably. I took her to the vet, and
it turned out that she had a tumor under her tongue. She had surgery to
remove the tumor, but it was malignant and now I don't know if it has
spread or what. If this is the case with your cat, please go get it
checked!

We have a cat that drools everytime we pet him or he's happy or his
face is right above one of ours! We always thought this was strange
but a vet once told us not to worry it was just the cat's way.
People drool so do cats!

My cat drools while we're trying to go to sleep. I roll over during
the night to land in a big wet spot!! yuck. I feel like putting a
sponge under her or wraping her head in a diaper.

Both of my cats drool when I pet them. It's usually not an excessive
amount, my boyfriend thinks its gross, I find it cute, kind of endearing!

While perhaps a little cute, drooling may be a sign of gum or tooth
disease. Particularly if accompanied by bad breath. I found this out
too late to save more than 2 of Annabelle's teeth. (The two lower

now she looks like a wild boar) I would suggest anyone whith a
drooling
cat should have a vet check their (the cat's ;-) ) teeth.
