My dear departed Pepsi did this her whole life to anyone who'd just had
a 'perm'. It was the scent that drove her wild. Your cat is actually
paying you a big compliment, but it may be your shampoo. Try switching
to another brand/scent and see what happens :-).
Good luck,
Jane
I've got a 20 lbs DSH mail who does it all the time usually at about
2:00AM. Hair=Fur and we are certainly seen as their parents. Besides
the kneading, the PURRING is so loud (but so sweet!). I've learned to
keep his claws clipped otherwise it can also be painfull!

You could try getting her a baby blanket, wash it with
your shampoo, and encouraging her to smurgle with it when
she starts on your hair.

Stinker did this as well. It was my euclyptus based shampoo. When
I stopped using the shampoo he stopped chewing my hair.

Ok, I'm going to try changing my shampoo, but I'm not sure if that will
help, since my mom uses the same shampoo and Ruffian has never tried the
same on her. Somehow I think that Ruffian may consider me as her 'mom',
since everytime she does the 'knead and suckle' thing, her eyes are
closed. But it's really weird, since she'll try to do it even if I'm
sitting in a chair. And I'm the only person she ever does it to. Oh
well, I'll try changing my shampoo and see if that helps. Thanx Jane
and Lynne for your help!
Amanda.
Gee, if only I'd known. My husband and I both got our hair cut short
before the "problem" stopped... :)

Yeah, I did that too, when I first got her. But now I'm insisting that
Amanda,
You need to remember that cats' sense of smell are so much more
sensitive than humans'. Consider some of the more expensive perfumes.
Have you ever noted how the same perfume smells ever so slightly
different on one person than another? The same would be true for the
kitties and their reaction to shampoo, only more so. Bear in mind as
well that there is more than JUST smell involved since you are clearly a
kept woman as far as your darlings are concerned. The change in perfume
might be just enough to break the habit long enough for them to develop
other, more delightful behaviors. <G>
