Hi,

I am about to adopt a kitty or two and am looking for any
recommendations of good veterinarians in the Boston/Cambridge area.

If people email me, I will summarize and post, but that generally only
tends to work on (technically-oriented) mailing lists.

thanks,
Jason

We've been very happy with the Porter Square veterinarians in Somerville
(across the street from the Porter Square mall.) Very nice people. They
saw my Late Great cat for 13 years, and now take care of our two kittens.
I particularly appreciate that they have always been very direct about
explaining available treatment options and letting us decide. I wish my
people-doctor was so straightforward!

If you adopt from the Animal Rescue League I honestly have to say that
they seem to do a fine job (even with my little Hell-Beast). Although
I'm not sure if they take animals not adopted from them.
For little stuff (claw trimming, etc) we take her to Charles St,
Animal Clinic (it's close to home), and they are nothing but professional
but lack major Vet resources such as surgical units.

There's a cat hospital off Beacon Street near the Fenway. I forgot the
name of it, and I can't look it up as I'm in L.A., but you will find it
in the yellow pages. There's also a low-cost/free cat clinic in Brighton
called Merwin Memorial, staffed by volunteer vets. Would definitely
trust them for normal stuff like shots, deworming, etc and you can always
make a donation if you're not low income.

Dr. Patricia Gallo, formerly of the Warwick Animal Hospital in Warwick, R.I. is the most
competent, compassionate and caring vet that I have ever dealth with. She is
associated with the Cat Hospital in Boston. There just was an article published about her
and her hospital recently in Boston Newspapers. If you are able to see her, mention
Ming and Ling, the Siamese (twins) from Warwick Animal Hosp. I am sure she will never
forget them. Best of luck to you, Dorothy, owned by Ming and Ling

Hullo Jason :
I recommend the Boston Cat Hospital, Angell Memorial (have had good
experiences at both places). A friend of mine has reptiles that she
takes to Tufts Vet. School ; seems like a good place.
just my two bits ...

We've been very happy with Somerville Animal Clinic in Ball Square.
Dr. Johansen takes excellent care of our three cats, and gives family
discounts for more than one animal.

I take my cat to South Bay Veterinary on Tremont Street in the South End.
I've been extremely pleased with the quality of care, and the prices seem
to be about market rate.
