I was in the book store the other night and found a book of nothing but
cat names and what they mean, as relating to cats. You might be able to
find a good set of names in a baby name book at the grocery store. :)
I named my male after an archangel, since he loves to ride on my
shoulder. :)

How about Harold and Maude? Harry and Tonto? Edward and Earl? No
wait...that's my cats' names! Fred and Ethel? Methyl and Ethyl? Now
I'm just getting silly...

I love naming cats and tend to use the outline from T.S.Elliott's poem
The Naming of Cats...
"The naming of cats is a serious matter,
It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES."

I won't transcribe the rest of it (from Old Possum's Book of Practical
Cats) but it goes on to say the the third name is the name only the cat
knows and refers to itself by. Letssee...a black cat and a white one.
Hmmmmm...I'll list three candidates for each color...

White:

Bianca Bellissima
Pristin Katzenberger
Powderfall Alpinesloper

Black:

Noirette Blackatter
Othello Sansbianco
Esmeralda Pastmidnight

Ok, so maybe my suggestions are unusual, but cats are beautiful
graceful creatures and deserve to have names they could be proud of. And
yes, my cats all have unusual names that suit their personalities.

Linus Peterson aka Pete: the name of our recently departed gray. The name
suited him for no particular reason. It just did.
Katherine the Gray aka Katie: My misunderstood prissy persian supreme
cat ruler of the household.
Isis Seven: Black female with masked Siamese markings. Named after a cat
on an *old* episode of Star Trek that could change itself into a human
female. (Isis is so human like at times it's almost scary.)

Phoenix Walker: Our tabby kitten. He has a cross pattern across his
shoulders that looks like a Phoenix. He is the first kitten we have ever
had so he bears our family name.

Have fun naming your kittens, no matter what you call them! And
remember, they won't care what you call them, except at mealtime :)
